Bocce News

Tom Bose

“And they’re off!” PebbleCreek (PC) Bocce started up again on Sept. 19, as players were looking forward to cooler weather on the courts. Remember to reserve the courts for practice. Just write in the sign-up book on the counter in the Eagle’s Nest Sports Complex building, next to the bocce courts. Select your time, and put your name or your team’s name on the time slots. Remember the day of play is when you warm up, all the other days you’re at the courts and play, that’s practice.

The following is information for the PC Bocce 2023-24 season play. The exact dates for the Winter and Spring Registration can be found on the PC Bocce QuickScores home page, www.QuickScores.com/PebbleCreekbocce.

Dues for 2023-24 seasons will be $5 per person per every season and league, day or night, that you play in.

On Sept. 8, the fall season’s Bocce Captains’ meeting took place. The results of that meeting are: No chairs are allowed in front of the concrete benches. First place teams in each season will decide who to donate $1,000 per season to.

The Bocce Board is looking into having two fun nights of bocce. There will be refreshments and a whole new way to play bocce. Hopefully, it will have you rolling down the courts, laughing all the way. Again, check QuickScores for updates.

Once again, some reminders of the Bocce Recreational rules:

1. Teams of at least six and no more than 12 players

2. No player should play more than two games in a match. If they do, then the team incurs a 5 point penalty per person playing a third game.

3. Please remember that glass containers of any kind are not permitted on any sports court in PebbleCreek.

Important FYI: When you do come down to practice only Bocce League members are allowed to open the shed and use the practice balls for play. The balls and all the equipment on the rolling carts are for League Game Days and Nights play only. If you come to play with friends or family, it would be appreciated if you would bring a set of bocce balls with you, or you can rent them from the Activity Center. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Replacing bocce balls are a necessity due to wear and tear, and they are costly to replace.

Please remember to use the removable boards on the courts, if you need to. These removable boards are to accommodate residents that have limited mobility. It allows them to proceed directly onto the courts without having to go over any type of barrier. We want the 2023-24 bocce seasons to be injury free. Also if you’re not feeling well, take care and stay home or seek medical attention if necessary.

Wishing all of you a wonderful, joyful, and fun fall 2023 bocce session. See you on the courts.
