Once again, the bocce league contributed to a worthy veteran’s organization. The month of May was designated Poppy Month by the PebbleCreek Activities Office. Poppies are given out in May to celebrate and support our military men and women, both veterans and those currently serving our country. The PebbleCreek Bocce Ball Association (PCBBA) helped by distributing poppies at each league of play during our spring session. The money raised was given to the Activities Office to be jointly donated with what they collected from the entire PebbleCreek community. Thank you all who donated, and thank you to all who served and are serving.
In April, we held the Bocce Board elections. The Election Committee consisted of Carolyn Rota, Angela Petter, and Dennis Balint. As chairperson of this committee, I want to thank Angela and Dennis for all their time, effort, and hard work. Now for the names of your newly elected PebbleCreek Bocce Ball board members: Greg McGee, vice president; Jack Williams, publicity; and Susan Fallon, registrar. They will be taking over as of July 1. Congratulations to you all.
On May 12, we were able to have our captains’ meeting for the first time in a while. It was great to see each other as a group. At this meeting, clarification of old rules and new rules was discussed and approved for the 2021-22 PebbleCreek Bocce Ball Association sessions, which will have three sessions—fall, winter, and spring. Just making it in time for the July Post, a Channel 12News crew recently visited us to tape a segment for their afternoon news program. The Bocce Board was faced with some challenges, as they had only one day notice of them coming, league play was finished for the year, and the taping time was at 1:30 p.m. and very hot. But, bocce players are a hardy stock. About 30 players showed up, courts were made ready, cold water was given out, and everyone smiled, laughed, and had a great time strutting their bocce stuff. The board will be notified when the segment will be televised, and that information will be shared with everyone. A big thank you to all who showed up and beat the heat. You’re true bocce troopers.
Have a wonderful summer and a happy, healthy, and safe Fourth of July. See you on the courts in September.

Now that we are almost back to normal, it’s still good to remember: wash your hands often, and, if you’re feeling ill, see a doctor and follow their orders.
