On May 5, Brian Rosenbloom, while playing in his regular Wednesday golf group, made a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at Eagle’s Nest. This was his second career hole-in-one. It was almost 50 years ago to the day that Brian made his first one back in New York.

As this ace did not occur during a PCMGA event, he does not qualify to share in the annual PCMGA prize award.

From the blue tee, the 17th hole played 144 yards to a middle pin placement just over the sand trap. There was a slight back up of groups on the hole. Rich Elliott was in the group behind Brian, and he starts to imitate Howard Cosell, the Monday Night Football announcer, as Brian tees up. Rich says, “Now on the tee, the semi-pro from Eagle’s Nest Golf Club, Brian Rosenbloom.” Brian hits his 7-hybrid with a fading high trajectory and sees his ball land on the green, then looks away. Rich continues his play-by-play and says, “The ball is landing on the green.” His voice gets louder and says, “It’s heading toward the hole. Holy (expletive), it went in!”

Brian and his playing partners, Mike D’Onofrio, Dan Schmillen, and Brian’s brother Neal, all get excited and start high-fiving, so does the foursome behind them. Brian was so happy that his brother was in town from New York to witness this great shot, as well as being able to hear the play-by-play from Rich.

Brian is originally from Queens, N.Y. He earned his undergraduate degree in education at the University of Buffalo. He also earned three master’s degrees (special education, school psychology, and school administration) at New York University and Long Island University. He spent most of his career in education in the New York City public school system. He was a teacher, a school psychologist, a principal, and a superintendent.

Brian and his wife, Laurie, moved from New York to PebbleCreek in 2015.

Congrats on his terrific shot!
