Birthday Gathering for Golf Advocate Ray Clements

Erv Stein

On Feb. 2, a group of PebbleCreek PCM9GA fellow members participated in a birthday celebration held at the residence of Steve Roseman, expressing appreciation for Ray Clements, among likely the most interesting, surely flamboyant, and much-admired former presidents of our PCM9GA golf group. Kudos to Gary Houser for his efforts to plan and coordinate this very successful event attended by 26 followers of Ray. It included an outstanding menu by Vero Catering, featuring the extraordinary Chicago Classic, a slow-roasted beef with sweet and hot giardiniera along with excellent Buffalo and Italian herb dry rub wings.

Ray Clements’ influence on our PCM9GA events were, for starters, always interesting, intriguing, and original. While you really never knew what unexpected tweaks in tournament format would appear, you could always count on a truly fun-filled and never boring event.

Ray became a PebbleCreek resident in about 2007, has since been a key PebbleCreek golf advocate, and has contributed substantial favorable input to PebbleCreek golf committee meetings with the goal of maintaining maximum focus of better serving the interests and rights of PebbleCreek golfing residents in regards to all aspects of our three 18-hole golf courses. In addition, Ray Clements, often referred to as the Commish, and assisted by Gary Houser, has more recently directed a 10-member private NFL Fantasy Pool referred to as PebbleCreek Junkies Pool, as well as several notable national and worldwide golf tournament Fantasy Pools. Ray’s weekly group result messages, while marginally ‘off the wall,’ have been simply hilarious.

Certainly, the PebbleCreek golf community has been fortunate to have such a favorable and proactive golf advocate, and members of our PCM9GA group highly anticipate his again becoming our PCM9GA President in May of this year.
