Balls and Strikes and Other Calls

PCSSA umpires

Fred Dresser

The game of softball is played with bats, balls, gloves, bases, and individuals who probably need to see an optometrist from time to time.

You guessed it, the individuals mentioned above are sometimes referred to as “blue,” are you blind, or hey Ump.” These hardy individuals are the umpires that are made up of PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association (PCSSA) players who have taken on the responsibility of calling balls, strikes, and outs during a game.

Many of these umpires play on the teams that makeup the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association. Our thanks to these players/umpires for taking on the job to see that every game is played safely and in accordance with the rules of baseball.

There was a rumor going around that a certain individual (who is not an umpire or player) was offering his dedicated sidekick (Jeter) to help in the play calling! Again, this was just a rumor.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see a game, c’mon down to the ballfield and see what makes this league the league we’re all proud to be a part of.
