The July heat melted into August, but the PebbleCreek Men’s 9-Hole Golf Association “Summer Citizens” events pressed on.

First up was an Odd/Even tournament held Aug. 3, with a shotgun start on the front nine of Eagle’s Nest. Four-man teams competed in the Odd/Even format, counting three low-net scores for odd-numbered holes, and two low-net scores for even-numbered holes.

Nine teams took the field, and at the end of the day top honors were won by the team of Trevor Ballinger, Lennie Liebowitz, Clifford Crooks, and Richard Johnson.

Next up on Aug. 17 was a Team Two Low Net Tournament, held on the front nine of Tuscany Falls East.

Ten teams competed in this venue, with Fred Schmidt, Tim Pisarski, Bill Priebe, and Bill Gray winning the day. After play the field retired to Portofino’s for refreshments and camaraderie.

The Nine Holers will be visiting three offsite venues during the October course closings at PebbleCreek. First up will be a visit to Falcon Dunes on Oct. 4. Next, the Niners will play at the Founder’s Course at the Verrado Golf Club on Oct. 12. Last up is a trip to the Sun City Country Club on Oct. 26. All three offsite trips will host four-man teams in a scramble format over 18 holes, with lunch to follow play.

The rumor that Director of Golf Operations Bill Lansing actually bought a round has been confirmed.
