Sharon Pelikan is the Pottery/Sculpture Club Artist of the Month for October. When asked about her experience, Sharon shared the following.
Sharon Pelikan loves playing with clay. Her introduction to clay was in elementary school where she made a green dinosaur. She still has it!
When asked by her husband, Chris, if she wanted to learn ceramics shortly after they were married, she enthusiastically said “Yes!” He had worked for a rather famous ceramicist/sculptor in Missouri. After teaching her the basic techniques, Sharon took advanced classes and became a ceramic instructor in California for many years.
After retiring to PebbleCreek, she became interested in doing pottery. In 2011 the Ceramic Club and Pottery Club were one club. The Ceramic Club was in need of an instructor, and she became one of their instructors and enjoyed teaching here for over 10 years before retiring from teaching.
Since retiring, Sharon has joined the Pottery/Sculpture Club and loves creating items of all kinds. She combines her knowledge of low-fire glazes and detailed brushstrokes in her creations.
You can see some of her pieces in the Pottery/Sculpture Club display window during the month of October. Don’t forget to check out her green dinosaur, which is now an antique!
