A Message for Library Patrons

Susan Kice and Arlene Hunt, Library Volunteers

We would like to thank you for donating your books and puzzles to both the Tuscany Falls and Eagles Nest Libraries. You have made the libraries very successful as a resource for our residents.

As a reminder, books and puzzles are donated by residents for the temporary use of residents (and renters and guests). Your HOA fees do not pay for these. Do not take them for your permanent use (except magazines) or re-distribute them. We’ve had reports of people leaving for the summer with many books and puzzles and not returning them in the fall. This past year, unfortunately, we have had two series of classic books permanently removed (not borrowed) from the library.

Also, recently we have been receiving more and more books and publications that do not meet our library rules and guidelines. We have had occasions where people are moving, etc. and are just bringing in boxes of items, without sorting them. This makes a lot of extra work for our volunteer librarians, who have to dispose of them.

So please abide by the following:

* Only donate books published on or after 2018 (for Tuscany) and 2016 (for Eagles Nest). This date is updated every year to two as we need space. Signs are published in both libraries.

* We accept all fiction and most non-fiction books. Do not donate the following types of books:  How To books, Cookbooks, Travel Guides, Medical Books, Religious study books, Business books (e.g., Accounting, etc.).

* Do not donate Young Children’s books or puzzles.

* We accept recent magazines (less than six months old)

* We accept puzzles without missing pieces.

* Returning puzzles with missing pieces: Please mark on the box top the location of any missing pieces with a black marker. There is a ‘mug’ of missing pieces in the library. When you return a puzzle, please take the time to check if the missing piece is in the mug.

Both libraries have a ‘Do Not Return’ area where we place our outdated books and puzzles. These, of course, may be taken for your own use. Again, do not donate outofdate books, etc.  We have enough of our library books for these areas.
