Volunteering: You can make a difference

Sue White

If you like people, you have come to the right place! Kare Bears is an organization in PebbleCreek of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” It is not just for the sick or elderly. It is for everyone! Kare Bears consists entirely of volunteers who serve the PebbleCreek community in remarkable ways. If you can volunteer, we have opportunities on our team for individuals who will:

Send a get well card to a neighbor who is ill; be there for a person who just had surgery; make a phone call to see how a neighbor is progressing with a newly diagnosed illness; keep residents informed of activities and services; welcome a new resident; help a bereaved family coordinate information for posting on the PebbleCreek eGroup or take a food platter provided by the Kare Bears organization.

“Many hands make light work.” By volunteering an average of two to four hours per month, you can serve your community and make a real difference. Kare Bears is looking for residents to work within their own unit to assist us in caring for our neighbors. It only takes a small amount of time to volunteer, but it can have a significant impact on someone’s life. We’ve grown in leaps a bounds so we continually need people to replace residents who have moved away, burnt out after years of service or perhaps may have passed away. Kare Bears needs additional volunteers in the following units: 2, 19, 25, 27, 32, 35, 36, 37, 43a, 54, 58, 61 and 62. If one of these units is yours, please call us and give the most precious gift that keeps on giving—you!

We also have a need for Roving Coordinators so if you don’t see your unit listed above or if we need additional volunteers in larger units, we want you, too! A Roving Coordinator is willing to go anywhere within PebbleCreek to help where there are no Coordinators or if someone is on vacation.

If you do not wish to be a Coordinator, we have additional opportunities at Kare Bears for you to serve. Volunteering is rewarding. It puts a smile on your face and warmth in your heart that matches no other. Be a part of the excitement and fun! Meet your fellow neighbors. Our men and women volunteers are the best anywhere!

Please call Rayma Scalzo, first vice president, at 623-935-1819 or email her at [email protected] today. You will be happy you did! There is no commitment just to talk about this unique opportunity.
