Model Railroad Club featured in national publication

Mark Pelletier

The Great Lakes Western Railroad – PebbleCreek Club’s model train layout – is prominently covered in the October issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist. MRH is a web-based national magazine serving the model railroad hobby – and it’s free!

The magazine is available for anyone worldwide to view online on the web at their main website: mrhpub.com or you can view the October article specifically at: mrhpub.com/2016-10-oct/online – then click on Great Lakes Western club layout at the upper right. Alternatively, we have placed a PDF version of the issue for you to download at: pcmrc.org – the PebbleCreek Model Railroad Club website.

The article – written by Club President Bruce Petrarca – chronicles a day in the operation of the GLW railroad, highlighting how our model layout simulates real-life railroading as it was in 1960s. Bruce also authors a monthly column in the magazine. Those of you who have visited us in Room 106 at the Eagle’s Nest Activity Center will certainly recognize many scenes along our railroad in the photos.

Exposure like this highlights both our club and the community. If you are a railroad enthusiast, come and spend Tuesday and Thursday mornings with us. And who knows? Maybe folks from across the country reading the article will buy in PebbleCreek, just to be part of the fun!

Remember also that November is Model Railroad Month and that means we will have our annual display window at the Creative Arts Center all month and this year an even larger train display at the Creative Arts Festival on November 12.

To round out this busy month, please plan to join us at our Thanksgiving Season Open House, Black Friday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Of course, you are always welcome to stop Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Here in PebbleCreek you can swim, play golf or pickleball any day – and this month you have almost as many opportunities to enjoy our hobby with us.
