The spirit of camaraderie and competitive drive was on full display as the Pebble Creek Men’s Nine Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) gathered for an exhilarating ABCD Scramble on the challenging back nine layout at Eagle’s Nest on Aug. 27.

Despite the fierce competition and the demanding layout of the course, local linksmen turned out in strong numbers to enjoy a pristine morning of golf. Thanks to meticulous planning by Pairings Coordinator Wayne Tripp, the event ran seamlessly, ensuring balanced and competitive foursomes across the board.

Tripp’s expert grouping of players into traditional ABCD tiers guaranteed that every team possessed an equitable mix of talent, creating an atmosphere where strategy and teamwork were paramount.

A Masterclass in Teamwork on the Back Nine

The scramble format pushed teams to rely on every member’s strengths. From booming drives off the tee to clutch putting on the challenging Eagle’s Nest greens, participants experienced the true essence of team golf. The back nine proved to be a formidable test, rewarding smart course management and punishing any stray shots into the desert native areas.

As the scorecards rolled in, the leaderboard reflected several stellar performances. The competition for the top spots was intensely tight, showcasing the depth of talent within the PCM9GA membership.

Rewarding Excellence: Over $250 in Payouts

Adding excitement to an already fantastic morning on the course, tournament organizers distributed over $250 in cash payouts to the top-performing teams. The prize pool was fiercely contested, with the victorious foursomes taking home well-earned winnings during the post-tournament clubhouse celebration.

The first–place champions claimed the top spot with a brilliant display of cohesive team play, navigating the back nine under exceptional pressure to secure the flight victory and the lion’s share of the prize envelope.

The runner–up and flight contenders followed closely behind, separated by only a stroke or two, proving that consistency across all nine holes was the key to unlocking the day’s rewards.

Looking Ahead

Events like the Eagle’s Nest ABCD Scramble continue to highlight why the PCM9GA remains one of the most vibrant and active groups in the community. By blending friendly social interaction with spirited competition, the association offers local golfers a fantastic mid-week outlet.

The association extends its gratitude to Wayne Tripp for his dedicated work on the pairings, the Eagle’s Nest course superintendents for maintaining pristine course conditions, and all the players who participated. Stay tuned to the clubhouse bulletin boards and the official PCM9GA website for announcements regarding upcoming autumn tournament schedules and sign-up deadlines.
