The PebbleCreek Men’s Nine Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) took its game on the road in September, heading just up the road to Buckeye for a spectacular off-site tournament at the Founders Course in Verrado. Held on Sept. 17, the event drew a fantastic turnout of over 65 golfers, featuring PCM9GA members alongside their invited guests for a memorable day of friendly competition and camaraderie.
A Stunning Setting
Nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the White Tank Mountains, the Founders Course at Verrado provided an exceptional test of golf and a feast for the eyes. Participants were treated to meticulously maintained fairways and greens that wound gracefully through a picturesque landscape defined by rugged desert arroyos and stunning architecture. The magnificent custom homes lining the course added a touch of elegance to the views, making every hole a unique experience. Despite the challenging layout and undulating greens, the gorgeous September weather created ideal conditions for scoring and socializing.
Seamless Play and Competition
Organizing a field of more than 65 players for an off-site venue is no small feat, but Pairings Coordinator Ray Clements ensured the event ran without a hitch. Clements expertly crafted the foursomes, blending seasoned PCM9GA regulars with guests to create competitive, balanced groups that fostered a lively, welcoming atmosphere from the first tee to the final putt.
The format of the day was a lively four-person scramble, which encouraged teamwork, strategic shot-making, and plenty of laughs. Players faced clever doglegs, dramatic elevation changes, and strategic bunkering, requiring every team member to contribute clutch drives, precise approach shots, or nervy putts to keep their score climbing up the leaderboard.
Celebration and Awards at the Clubhouse
Following the conclusion of play, the golfers gathered at the elegant Verrado Clubhouse for a well-deserved post-tournament lunch. The spacious dining area buzzed with enthusiastic recaps of near-miss birdies, long drives, and challenging pin placements. Over delicious food and refreshing drinks, members and guests shared stories celebrating the highlights of the day.
The afternoon concluded with the much-anticipated awards ceremony. To the delight of the crowd, the top-finishing teams were recognized for their stellar play, taking home top honors and bragging rights until the next association outing.
The Sept. 17 excursion to Verrado stands out as a resounding success, blending championship-caliber golf, breathtaking scenery, and the unmatched camaraderie that defines the PCM9GA. A special note of thanks goes out to Ray Clements for his tireless coordination, the Verrado golf operations staff for their hospitality, and all the members and guests who made the trip a day to remember.
