Curtis Chadwick

Curtis “Curt” Chadwick, 82, of PebbleCreek, passed away in June 2026 surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Linda, moved to Goodyear in 2006 and made PebbleCreek their home and community for the next 20 years.

Curt grew up in Falls Church, Va., where he and his twin brother, Wayne, became the first in their family to graduate from college. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1967 to 1973 while beginning his career and raising a young family. He spent his entire 40-year career with Caterpillar Inc., where he earned a patent and played a key role in power generation projects throughout Latin America before retiring in 2006.

Machines and technology were a lifelong love, and family and friends considered Curt a mechanical genius—he was the first in his neighborhood to own a computer, back in 1980, and spent countless hours rebuilding cars. He was a hands-on father who taught his 10-year-old daughter to drive a tractor, took his son to statewide computer programming competitions, and coached youth soccer. Through his church, he traveled to Mexico to build homes with Habitat for Humanity, and over the years he held many volunteer and leadership roles in his neighborhood.

Curt had never played softball before he arrived in PebbleCreek. He learned the game here, came to love it, and played for 20 years—later becoming an umpire and coaching the Palm Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team. Neighbors also knew him as the man who kept things running: he managed and maintained a fleet of golf carts and was always willing to lend a hand or fix whatever was broken. When he wasn’t tinkering, he was outdoors—gardening, riding motorcycles, fishing, or at the softball field with his canine buddy, Chico.

Curt is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Linda Chadwick, who recently moved back to Central Illinois; his first wife, Marsha, their daughter, Melissa, and his granddaughter, Bella, all of the San Francisco Bay Area; and his brother, Wayne, and sister, Gail, both of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his son, Neil.

Curt will be interred at Camp Butler National Cemetery near Springfield, Ill., in a private family ceremony. A Celebration of Life will be held in PebbleCreek in the fall of 2026.

 

Wirt Ross Fladd, USN (Ret)

Rear Admiral Wirt Ross Fladd, USN (Ret), passed peacefully during the early hours of July 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born and raised in Rochester, N.Y., by his parents, Harold and Grace Fladd, attended Duke University, and then graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Business Administration in 1963.

Wirt and his wife Valerie moved from San Diego to Goodyear in 1999 two years after his 34 years of service in the United States Navy. He enjoyed everything about PebbleCreek, especially being able to play golf all year long!

Wirt is also survived by his daughters Cara and Jennifer, grandson and wife Colson and McKinley Keilich, and son-in-law Russ Krueger.

Services were held at Miramar National Cemetery on Aug. 25, 2026.

 

Jerome Charles Mayone

Jerome Charles Mayone, 88, of Goodyear, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2026. Jerome was born July 20, 1938, in Kingston, N.Y., to Roland Sr. and Ethel Mayone (Burns). He was the eldest of 3 children, brother to Lowell and Roland Jr. He grew up in Saugerties, N.Y., and graduated from Saugerties High School in 1955.

He studied at the Merchant Marine Academy and served in the United States Navy before entering a long career in steel sales until his retirement in 1998. Jerome met his beautiful wife, Jeannine, in 1961, whom he was married to for 64 years, and they were blessed with three children, Christopher, Jeannine Marie, and Coryn.

Jerome and Jeannine moved to PebbleCreek in 1999 quickly immersing themselves in all the wonderful activities available. They enjoyed the golfing community and camaraderie of all their fellow residents.

Jerome was a loving family man who valued sustaining and nurturing relationships with all those who came his way. Many business associates of his became lifelong friends, whom he communicated with often. He was known for an easy smile or laugh and his warm and welcoming personality. Above all, Jerome was happiest when he was in the presence of family. Throughout his life he was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine (LaBounty), daughters Jeannine Marie (Stephen) Ziomek and Coryn Suzanne (David) Mifsud, eight grandchildren, Samantha, Anthony, Sidney, C.J., Joseph, Alexander, Lucas, and Haley as well as five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved brothers Lowell (Erna) and Roland Jr. (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by both his parents, sister-in-law Julia, and beloved son Christopher Joseph.

Jerome will be dearly missed, but now he is with his Lord and free of earthly pain and suffering. A funeral mass was held for Jerome at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, Ariz., on Aug. 17.

Barbara Jean Wahl

Barbara Jean Wahl, 87, passed away peacefully in June 2026 in her home, in PebbleCreek, Ariz., in the company of her husband, Don, and youngest son, Doug. She had a passionate love for life and family.

Born on Jan. 3, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., to Bruce and Julia Miniat she was one of seven children. They lived in South Chicago, then moved to Indiana (on a farm), then back to Chicago, eventually landing in Greenville, Tenn. While attending high school in Tennessee, she was a cheerleader and was also crowned in several different pageants, one being Miss Tobacco.

After a short stint at the University of Tennessee she moved to Denver to live with her oldest sister Jerry and her husband Bill. While in Denver, she met the love of her life, Don, and they readily married. They moved to Littleton, Colo., and had one daughter and three boys.

Barbara kept very busy being a housewife. She loved being a mom and involving herself in her children’s lives. The holidays were some of her favorite times and she made them magical and memorable with many traditions that have been handed down. Her cooking was fantastic and she really made home life a special place for her family. In her free time she loved to create beautiful flower gardens, craft with her friends, sew, and play bridge. She was very creative in so many ways. Later in her life she cherished becoming a “grammy” and created many special memories for her grandkids. She traveled the world with Don and loved the slots and shows in Las Vegas.

Barb and her family moved many times: Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1973; Marple Newtown, Pa., in 1978; Plano, Texas, in 1980; Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., in 1986; and PebbleCreek, Ariz., in 2003.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Don, and her four children, Cheryl (Gordon), Don, Richard (Elisha), and Doug. She has 12 grandchildren: Renee, Courtney, Kendra, Haley, Donnie, Natalie, Ryan, Christopher, Collin, McKenzie, Carley, and Winter. Her great–grandchildren are Caiden, Ronald, Tennyson, Wallace, Sawyer, Juniper, Cedric, David, and James. She is also survived by her brother Bill (wife Jo), and her sisters Mary Ann and Judy (husband Jerry).

There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m., at the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse Chianti Room located in PebbleCreek, 16222 W. Club Drive, Goodyear, AZ 85395.

 

Paige M. Wolf

On June 14, Paige M. Wolf answered the call of the Heavenly Angels to come be with them and her father, Ron.

She entered this world on April 9, 1967, in Oregon City, Ore. She attended grade school in Oregon City and graduated from West Linn High School and continued her education in Columbia, Mo., graduating from Stephens Women’s college with a bachelor’s degree in child psychology and early education. She later obtained a master’s degree in education from Arizona State.

Paige had a special calling as a first and second grade teacher in the Litchfield School District for over 20 years. This was a career she loved and was dedicated to. Paige spent several summer vacations chaperoning children on educational journeys, studying the histories of Europe, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, as to how they related to America’s history and development.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Clare; aunts, Rebecca Wolf, Kay Doolittle, Susan Dunn; cousins, Mitchell, Megan, and Michael Wolf; and many wonderful and lifelong friends who were with her through the good times and her courageous fight with cancer.
