Embracing Our Differences Club

Members of the Embracing Our Differences (EOD) Club recently enjoyed a memorable and enriching visit to the Heard Museum in Phoenix. Founded in 1929, the museum is internationally recognized for its celebration of Native American art, culture, and history. Upon entering the beautiful courtyard, visitors are greeted by the striking bronze sculpture “Intertribal Greeting,” setting the tone for an inspiring experience.

Our docent-led tour was both engaging and educational, offering fascinating insights into the museum’s exhibits and the rich cultural heritage they represent. Members appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the traditions, artistry, and stories of Indigenous peoples of the Southwest and beyond.

Following the tour, many members explored the Heard Museum’s exceptional gift shop, which featured authentic cultural books, handmade jewelry, woven baskets, textiles, and distinctive works of art created by Native artisans. The beautiful Arizona weather added to the day’s enjoyment as members gathered for a delicious lunch at the museum’s Courtyard Café, where conversation and camaraderie continued.

The Embracing Our Differences Club welcomes all PebbleCreek residents who are interested in celebrating diversity, fostering inclusion, and learning through shared cultural experiences and community activities.
