Unit 20 Celebrates Fall

Peggy Pase

Members of unit 20 met for happy hour and appetizers on Nov. 10 to celebrate fall and the return of our winter residents. We enjoyed eating delicious dishes brought by our neighbors, catching up with each other, and meeting new unit 20 PebbleCreek homeowners. (Photo by Peggy Pase)

Unit 27D Breakfast

Claudia Metter

Suzanne Rambach organized a Wednesday morning breakfast for Unit 27D and friends to get together with old friends and new neighbors. A good time was had by all. Please watch your email for more Unit events coming in 2026. Wishing all a Happy New Year!

Unit 37 Happy Hour

Shirley Rible

Unit 37 held its first Happy Hour get-together in December at the Westwind Tavern, and it was a great success! Neighbors enjoyed the chance to mix and mingle in a relaxed setting. Long-time acquaintances were able to reconnect, while new residents had the opportunity to meet and get to know one another. A wonderful time was had by all, and we’re already looking forward to the next gathering!

Unit 37 News: Cookie Exchange Kicks Off Holiday Season

Marilyn Becker

On Dec. 3, the ladies of Unit 37 kicked off the holiday season with a festive cookie exchange. Each guest brought small packages of cookies to share, filling the room with delicious variety. While enjoying appetizers and mimosas, neighbors exchanged stories about their cookies and personal interests. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, build friendships, and savor “cookie tastings” to take home.

A special thank-you to Shelley Coate for graciously hosting the event in her home, and to the Unit 37 Social Committee—Shelley Coate, Shirley Rible, Diane Goyer, and Marilyn Becker—for organizing this delightful gathering.

Unit 42B Buzz Bee Happy Hour

Carol Flores

Unit 42B had another fun Buzz Bee happy hour. We look for the Buzz Bee sign in a neighbor’s yard to indicate who is hosting that day! Thank you to Patsy and George Wagner for opening their home to us.

Unit 42B Celebrates and Donates

Carol Flores

Unit 42B celebrated the holiday season with a Christmas martini party. Graciously hosted by Judi and Monte Williams and Terry and Janice Rossi, we had a wonderful evening. Our unit collected $220 to donate to Pet Companions of PebbleCreek.

Pictured with winner Judy Campbell in her 1st place apron are Gwen DeBernardi, Deb Fahey, and Jean Harris.

Unit 44 Holds 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off

Jean Harris

To celebrate the return of our snowbirds and to honor veterans, Unit 44 held their 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off party at the Oasis pool on Nov. 10. Six contestants vied for top honors, with previously undefeated 3-time champion Jim Miller graciously bowing out to give others a chance. Instead, Jim grilled hot dogs with chili toppings while guests tasted and retasted the six dishes to determine a winner. Third place went to Jim Thompson, who gave a tearful acceptance speech. Great cook Kathy Clark placed again, in second this year, with first prize awarded to first-time contestant Judy Campbell. Judy was awarded an official Unit 44 Chili Cook-Off apron, while Master of Ceremonies Gwen DeBernardi was presented with a University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) cap for her duties. Deb and Paul Fahey hosted (along with Jean Harris) and collected donations for a worthy charityTunnel to Towers, t2t.orgwhich supports “America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.”

A cheerful group photo captured the moment. Seated (left to right): Mark Eichkorn, Spike Razem, Dan Harris (photographer), Doug Kirkpatrick, Bob Olson, John Arpan, and Ken Russo. Standing (left to right): Don Paxton, Jack Campbell, Scott Crabtree, Rick Labasky, and Frank Gorski.

Last Unit 44 Men’s Breakfast of 2025

Dan Harris

On Dec. 3, the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant happily welcomed Unit 44’s monthly men’s breakfast crew—12 cheerful fellows spread across two tables ready to fuel up for a day packed with pickleball, golf, swimming, or (let’s be honest) loafing and streaming who knows what.

Service was swift and smiling for nearly everyone. Nearly. Poor Ken Russo stared at a lonely placemat while his buddies attacked their plates like it was Thanksgiving round two. Fear not—Ken’s piping hot breakfast eventually arrived, safe and sound, just fashionably late to the party.

Conversation flowed faster than the coffee. Topics included college football rivalries, the latest neighborhood scoop, Christmas travel plans, and the usual loving roast session of everyone’s endearing quirks (which shall remain safely off the record … mostly). Special shout-out to Mark Eichkorn, who once again reminded the server—very politely and with the patience of a saint—that he genuinely loves his eggs charred and his bacon crispy. (Mark, we all nodded along like this was brand-new information.)

Swap Meet and Luncheon for Unit 44 Ladies

Jean Harris

On Nov. 11, Unit 44 ladies met for a potluck salad and cheesecake bite luncheon at the home of Jean Harris. The brainchild of neighbor Gwen DeBernardi, the ladies brought our “junk in the trunk”one person’s junk is another’s treasure. Purpose: to clean out our closets and repurpose to others, with the remaining items donated to charity. High on the list of swaps were kitchen items and purses/totes. Not-so-hot items: a non-working vacuum to repair and, well, junk we didn’t want. It was a delightful way to celebrate friendships and new salad recipes. Left to right: Gwen DeBernardi, Deborah Crabtree, Jean Merkel (her daughter Kristin kindly took the photo), Judy Gorski, Jean Harris (kneeling), Barbara Kamm, Joy Leber, Gayle Lopez, Judy Campbell, and FUN friend (Friend of UNit 44) Ann McKinley.

Unit 44’s Wickedly Good Ladies

Jean Harris

A few of Unit 44’s scandalacious ladies met for the much anticipated movie, Wicked For Good, on Nov. 26, 2025. Showing up at Harkins Estrella Falls 16 theater in hideoteous hats, green (and one pink) outfits, there was no confusifying our gratitution for being together as friends. All were moodified by the story of two good friends and our own growing friendships made possible by living in PebbleCreek. Left to right: Debbie Baron, Janice Kobe, Judy Gorski, Peggy Hayner, Joy Leber, and Galindafied Jean Harris. Not pictured, Jody Hoff.

Unit 44 Cheers on Our Star, Laurie Eichkorn

Jean Harris

Bravo to Pebble Creek’s ShowTime Productions “White Christmas.” Unit 44 was on hand Nov. 21 to cheer on our very own star, Laurie Eickhorn, who played General Waverly’s granddaughter, Susan. Laurie’s husband, Mark, hosted a happy hour before the performance. Their daughter, Heidi, also danced her way on stage. The talent in our community is astounding, and Laurie, we salute you!

Unit 46 Ladies Enjoy Copper & Sage

Spike Razem

On Nov. 19, 2025, the ladies of Unit 46 had a fantastic turnout for an enjoyable lunch at one of Goodyear’s newest restaurants. Copper & Sage was able to accommodate all 24 ladies, seated at one long table outdoors on the back patio. Although the temperature was cool and skies were overcast, the lunch and subsequent photo opportunity were ultimately very successful.

Copper & Sage’s menu ranges from traditional Southern dishes to innovative creations. Some of the lunches ordered were French Dip, Smashburger, Blackened Fish Tacos, Pimento BLT, etc., and by all reports, the cuisine was deeeelicious! The service was very friendly and efficient, especially in handling such a large group. The ladies enjoyed good conversations, with topics that included snowbirds returning and everyone’s plans for the upcoming holidays. Thanks much to organizers Tracy Kieras and Karen Ramberg for a job well done!

Good times continue in Unit 46, and best wishes for a happy, healthy, safe, and fun new year ahead.

Unit 46 Eggcellent Breakfast for 18 Men

Spike Razem

The third Wednesday of each month always results in an eggcellent breakfast for an excellent group of Unit 46 men. On Nov. 19 we needed three tables to successfully seat 18 men at Eagle’s Nest Restaurant. Servers Eliza and Jess took eggcellent care of our sometimes-rowdy, old-but-never-grumpy group.

Unit 46 continues to grow with newly-built homes and new neighbors. Joining us for the first time for this eggcellent experience was new neighbor, Brian GoldadeHooray! As usual, delicious foods and beverages were enjoyed and eggcellent conversation developed. (Of course, divisive topics such as politics and religion were not discussed.) Once our meal was completed, but before anyone could dine-and-dash, we all gathered for a thumbs-up photo.

Then, as our eggcellent group departed, we heard the greeting“Happy Thanksgiving to all!”

Unit 49A Bocce Event

Robin Macik

On Nov. 8, 45 residents of Unit 49A gathered at the Bocce Courts to play what they called KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) Bocce hosted by Janet Pritchyk and Robin Macik. For some it was the first time playing. The top three teams were awarded scratch lottery tickets. As of this writing, we’ve heard there was one winner of $10. The 1st place team was Steve & Tanja Zerkie and Jo & Glenn Kunishige, 2nd place was Chuck & Barb Busker and Gretchen Bataille & Ron Olberding, and 3rd place went to Brenda Sand, Jan Glasscock, Geri Seymour, and Carole Polley. Congratulations to all the teams.

After the awards were handed out, everyone socialized on the sports court patio and enjoyed sub sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, and cookies. Unit 49A always has a great time together and we can’t wait until our next social.

Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon

Janet Miazga

Our Nov. 13 Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon had a great turnout of 21 gals! We enjoyed a delicious meal at P.F. Chang’s while chatting about where the year had gone. It was nice to see so many of our dear neighbors and we all thanked Lynn Lucas and Sandra Adams for hosting this luncheon and offering dessert candy on the tables for our taking. Here’s to another enjoyable luncheon with friends!

Unit 53 Romeo Lunch

The “Romeos” of Unit 53 chose to stage their December Christmas lunch on the patio of Cooper’s Hawk in Surprise. No gifts were exchanged but a lot of valuable information was shared. Rumor has it that the hot topic of discussion was what to buy their respective “Juliets” this holiday season. Ron Guerin, the men’s coordinator, invites all the males of Unit 53 to join this group of neighbors who meet the first Friday of every month.

Unit 54 Cookies for Airmen

Barb Dunson

Unit 54 bakers never disappoint, and this year was no exception. Flour, sugar, spices, and everything nice was mixed, whipped, and baked to produce more than 100 dozen sweet treats for Luke Air Force Base Airmen living in the dorms.

Huge thanks bakers Pat Biancardi for shortbreads; the King adults along with grandchildren for oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, chocolate coconut squares, sugar cookies, and white chocolate pretzels and done up in cute little see-through boxes; Pat Gray for Mexican Wedding cakes, fudge w/walnuts, and spritz; Cheryl Kunkle for sugar cookies; Cindy Klein for chocolate chip; Patty Klepinger for white chocolate pretzels; Michelle Moskos and Steve Davies for spritz; Barb Dunson and Julie Kemper for peanut blossoms; Beth Kelly and Nancy Popenhagen for chocolate chip, macadamia nut, and M&M; Kearin Kasper for spritz and rosettes; Bob and Diane Rottman for ginger and peanut blossoms. I know it was a pleasure of all the bakers in Unit 54 to participate in this meaningful holiday event.

Unit 58 November Men’s Breakfast

Ed Raker

The avid breakfast eaters of Unit 58 regrouped on Nov. 19 after taking 30 days or so to allow their digestive systems to rest from October. Most of them found everything to be in working order as we assembled at Times Square. Surprisingly, the wait staff were pleased to have us back now that everyone was concentrating on good table manners. We enjoyed seeing others who had been gone over the summer, and we were pleased to introduce Mr. Kirk Stetson, our new neighbor from Montana. A good time was had by all.

Pickleball Is Back in Unit 58

Winter visitors are visiting again. They are warmly welcomed back by those of us in the Unit 58 Pickleball Group. Over the hot summer we usually had as few as five or six participants. But now we typically have 12 or more. What attracts attendance as much as the games themselves is the Happy Hour that follows. There is plenty of laughter and camaraderie generated as we catch up on each other’s exploits over the summer. And we often have new members with whom we enjoy getting acquainted. As a final point … we’re not competitors, just good friends!

Unit 60 Halloween Event

Sherri Hille

Tom and Jane Gage invited the Unit to “Cocktails in the Street” to their driveway on Oct. 31. Costumes were optional, but there was a great turnout. There were pumpkins, dinosaurs, witches, Antony and Cleopatra, and more. A mystic potion and snacks were available.

Unit 60 Food Drive

Sherri Hille

Unit 60 collected 2,762 pounds of food and other supplies from 50 homes and $700 in cash for the Valley View Community Food Bank. The food bank said it would use the cash to buy 16-pound turkeys. Valley View was especially appreciative of the donation as the need is greater this year.

Unit 60 Men’s Gathering

Sherri Hille

The Unit 60 Men’s Gathering for lunch was on Nov. 4 at the Westwind Tavern. John Cohen, HOA board representative and Unit 60 resident, discussed current developments in the transition from the developerrun HOA to the ownerrun board. Potential future activities for the Unit 60 Men’s group were discussed.

The 62A Smarty Pants Score 3rd Place

Toni Erickson

The Smarty Pants of 62A put their knowledge to the test on Nov. 19 during trivia night at Augie’s Sports Bar. Although the group was small, they still impressed—earning a third-place finish. The intellects included the gals, from left to right: Laurie Wyman, Jackie MacKenzie, Dale Scanlon, Judy Meservey, and Marilyn Coates, and the guys, standing in the back from left to right: Tim Scanlon, Tom MacKenzie, and Vic Coates. You all made 62A proud.

62A Friendsgiving

Toni Erickson

Neighbors from Unit 62A gathered at the home of Judy Meservey on Thanksgiving for a heartfelt celebration. Judy graciously opened her home for those without nearby family, creating a place to enjoy the holiday together. Everyone contributed to a wonderful feast featuring turkey, HoneyBaked ham, all the classic trimmings, and plenty of delicious desserts. From left to right gathered around the “decorated for the holidays” table are: Joanne and Jerry Wrout, Renee Fisher, Judy Meservey, Bruce Brown, Mary Geraghty, Kylea Langhals, John Geraghty, Wendy and Rick Langhals, Missy McCrickard, and seated are Kim and Brent Ebert.

Unit 62A November Happy Hour

Toni Erickson

The Unit 62A November happy hour was hosted on Nov. 14 at the beautiful home and outdoor space of Julie and Elmer Greenbank. We were fortunate with the weather—despite forecasts of rain and cold, nature granted us a lovely evening to enjoy the outdoors while visiting with neighbors. As always, everyone brought an appetizer to share along with their own beverage. Elmer and Julie Greenbank, our gracious hosts for the evening, are pictured standing on the left.

Earlier that day, Jackie Bachmann graciously collected canned goods, perishable items, and cash donations for the St. Mary’s Food Bank from our unit. With help of her “devoted” husband, Tom, they loaded 263 items80 items more than last yearalong with the generous cash contributions and delivered them accordingly.

62A Ornament Exchange

Toni Erickson

The ladies of Unit 62A gathered for their annual Christmas ornament exchange and holiday luncheon at The Vic in Verrado on Dec. 4. Each guest brought a beautifully wrapped $15–$20 ornament to share in the fun. The Vic provided a charming backdrop for a cheerful afternoon of food, friendship, festive celebrationand even a special birthday to make the day extra memorable. Those participating in the ornament exchange were, from left to right: Lynn Banks, Mary Geraghty, LaVonne Christensen, Barb Downey, Janelle Watts, Pat Gonzales, Jackie MacKenzie, Wendy Langhals, Julie Greenbank, Marilyn Newcomer, Patti Trapp, Marilyn Coates, Judy Meservey, Renee Fisher, Cathe Pruyn, Joanne Wrout (the birthday girl), Janet Henson, and Jackie Bachmann.

Unit 62A Tribute to our Veterans

Toni Erickson

In honor of Veterans Day, our unit once again proudly displayed American flags in front of each of our homes. With about 50 homes in our unit, the sight of our streets lined with red, white, and blue was beautiful and meaningful.

Veterans Day, observed each year on Nov. 11, is a time to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice protect the freedoms we cherish every day.

A heartfelt thank you to all who have servedand to our neighbors who helped make this touching display of patriotism possible. Those who posted the flags in our yards are pictured from left to right: Vic Coates, Rich Andes, Judy Meservey, and Elmer Greenbank. Not pictured but also helped were Bruce and Lynn Banks.

62A Wine Tasting Event

Toni Erickson

A beautiful evening was enjoyed at the spectacular home and outdoor patio of Paula Hupka and Gerry Hubbard (who are standing in front of the TV in the picture) for the wine tasting party held on Nov. 8. Each household brought a bottle of red or white wine, which the Social Committee cleverly disguised in numbered/lettered brown bags. Guests were given ballots to taste and judge the wines.

The white wine winner came from our gracious hosts, Paula and Gerry, while Cathe Pruyn took top honors for the red wine. Each received two $10 gift cards. The evening concluded, naturally, with everyone finishing off the remaining wine and enjoying Paula’s wonderful charcuterie boardthe perfect complement to another delightful night on Sheridan Street.

Unit 62B Ladies Holiday Lunch

Marie Shubin

The annual 62B Ladies Holiday Lunch was another success at the Chianti Room on Dec. 4. The three entrees were chicken parmigiana, petite steak, and a vegan cauliflower steak that everyone was raving about. Good conversation and some silliness flowed amongst the neighborhood women decked in their holiday attire. The Secret Santa “white elephant” game netted a couple of actual white elephants that have found new homes, and a good time was had by all.
