The Agua Fria High School District hosted its 5th annual Veterans Ceremony Breakfast on Nov. 4 at the PebbleCreek Tuscany Golf Clubhouse. The event brought together city officials, Agua Fria High School District military veterans, and active and retired service members for a morning of gratitude, reflection, and community connection.
Superintendent Mark Yslas welcomed nearly 200 guests and expressed appreciation for the service and sacrifice of veterans across the district and community. “Our Veterans Ceremony Breakfast is one of our most meaningful traditions,” Yslas said. “It’s a chance to honor the individuals who have served our country and to remind our students of the importance of service, respect, and community.”
Joe Holcombe from Chasse Building Team spoke on the significance of the Missing in Action and Prisoner of War Table, saying, “As we gather today, we pause to reflect on those still unaccounted for and the deep meaning behind this display. Our JROTC students have led this ceremony with honor and dignity, reminding us of the enduring values of service, sacrifice, and leadership.”
Governing Board Member Corby Naylor also introduced the Challenge Coin Ceremony, and City of Goodyear Council Member Trey Terry concluded the event and spoke of the significance of recognizing veterans and expressing gratitude for the District’s continued dedication to honoring those who serve.
District staff and student leaders participated in the ceremony, which included a recognition of veterans representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The annual event highlights the District’s ongoing commitment to recognizing the contributions of those who have served, both in and outside the classroom.
The Agua Fria High School District extends heartfelt thanks to all who joined us in honoring our veterans.
