Janice Marie Monson
Janice Marie Monson
Jan was born in Toledo, Wash., on April 11, 1937, to William and Ida Poutt. She passed away July 6, 2025. She graduated from Buckley High School and soon afterward started her adventurous life in Anchorage, Alaska, where she met her future husband, Jerry Monson. She retired after many years of working with the Anchorage School District. Jerry and Jan’s initial retirement years were split between Anchorage and Kona, Hawaii. Thereafter, she and Jerry settled in the PebbleCreek community in Goodyear, Ariz. In her final years, she resided at the La Loma Village retirement community in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Jan very much enjoyed her walks, playing golf, and watching the pro golf tournaments on television. She was happy to be able to play mahjong with her close friends. She enjoyed having dinner with family and friends and especially savored her favorite cabernet wine, Silver Oak. Jan also loved to travel and was fortunate to visit nearly every state during her cross-country RV trips, as well as travel to many countries around the world.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy (1975), husband Jerry (2007), and son Jay (2013).
Jan is survived by her daughter Jill Robinson and husband Marty, granddaughter Kelly Robinson, granddaughter Lisa Sisson and husband Corey, and great-granddaughter Harlow.
Jan will be sadly missed by her family and friends but will remain in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the fall to honor her. Jan’s final resting place will be Kona, Hawaii, where she will join Jerry.
Donations to the American Heart Association in Jan’s name would be greatly appreciated in the hope of helping others with the treatment of heart disease.
