Pickleball for Juniors

Recently PickleBall Club member Ron Nelson, a certified pickleball coach via PPR/Professional Pickleball Registry, provided pickleball coaching to eight physical education teachers associated with West Point High School located in Avondale. Ron is working with the high school to introduce the game to their students beginning with the start of their next school year.

Ron’s primary contact at the high school is Bernice Garcia, the Director of Wellness programs at West Point. Both Bernice and Ron would like to thank the members of our club who donated new and used paddles and new balls. Ron also secured additional new paddles and balls from the New Mexico and Arizona Pickleball Association via a grant.

Ron has worked to introduce the game of pickleball to other junior players, from ages 12 to 18, along with other adults in the greater Phoenix area. This endeavor involves forming “club” teams for coaching and competition. During the next few years the goal is to establish other junior pickleball clubs in cities such as Prescott, Tucson, Flagstaff, and the Pinetop/Lakeside areas. Learn more at monsterathlete.net.
