The PebbleCreek Men’s Nine Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) recently held its highly successful ninth annual Awards Banquet at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom on Friday evening, April 17 with well over 100 members and guests attending this fun filled event.
The food was outstanding thanks to our PebbleCreek Catering Group and the banquet activities as directed by our dynamic and most innovative PCM9GA President Ray Clements acting as our MC, assured that the excitement and interest level of all attending remained at a very high level throughout the evening. The banquet kicked off with a no-host bar at 5:30 p.m. which put us all in a relaxed fun filled mood. Prior to our dinner service, John Ward led us all in the Pledge of Allegiance and then our PCM9GA President Ray Clements took over and, as MC , he simply did a terrific job in handling the raffle ticket awards as well as directing the Club Championship Trophy Award Presentations and Outstanding Service Awards for selected PCM9GA Committee Chairman. In addition a plaque was presented to all attending past PCM9GA presidents recognizing their immense contributions which have helped mold our present 300 member strong outstanding PCM9GA group.
Last, but by no means least, Ray Clements, as always full of surprises, announced and presented two hilarious awards; the first one to Rosemary Holmes, wife of PCM9GA member Alton Holmes, with an electric clothes iron attached to a club and Erv Stein with a sledge hammer wedge attached to a club in recognition of his quite recent notable, yet dubious, feat of driving a gold ball two inches into the ground in the fairway.
Award presentations were as follows:
PCM9GA Low Net Club Champion Randy Prinz
PCM9GA Low Gross Club Champion Mike D’Onofrio
Outstanding Service Awards: Bob Caldwell – Adopt a Hole; Ed Force – Apparel; Don Drummond – Turf Paradise Fun Day Out; Gary Lord – Member Guest Tournament; Erv Stein – Publicity; Doug Wainwright – Special Events/Banquets
All in all it seems that each year our outstanding annual banquets get better and better and hats off to Doug Wainwright and all the hard work by his committee members and the PCM9GA board for making this event simply awesome.
The PCM9GA current membership role now exceeds 300 members and, effective May 21, our Thursday tee times revert back to 7:30 a.m. which works real well in escaping from the searing Arizona summer heat. For the past few months we have had a myriad of PCM9GA events including the just completed joint PCM9GA and Sun City Grand Tournament of May 11 and 14. As always we urge new interested members to join our fun loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. The $50 annual cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting.
