Jim Ellison, President
November will be a critical decision time for the Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek if we are to continue as an IRS approved 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. The following areas need to be covered in order for us to proceed: Critical Officer/Board positions need to be assured, and Cat rescue and Dog rescue coordinators need to be in place. In an ideal world, we would also like a Wildlife (birds, bunnies, etc.) rescue coordinator in place also to continue that effort, but our rescue can continue without it if necessary.
We have an election coming up in January with the following terms expiring: Vice President, Secretary, and two Directors at Large. Nominations are due no later than our November membership meeting. Our current Vice President, Marge Ellison, has elected not to run for another term, so this is a critical position to be filled. The vice president’s duties are, in the absence or disability of the president, to perform the duties of the president and act in the president’s behalf.
My term as president will end after Dec. 31, 2024, and I will not be running for another term. We will need someone in position to run for president in January 2025. The duties of the president are as follows: The president shall preside at all meetings of the Board and the Corporation. The president shall be a member, ex officio, of all committees and shall have the authority, with prior approval of the Board of Directors, to sign such papers as may be required in the sale of assets belonging to the Corporation.
It should be noted that, even though I have voluntarily been coordinating and performing dog, cat, and bird rescues, that is not a part of the required duties of the president. We need other volunteers to step up and fill those positions. Our Board of Directors will be making a decision after our November membership meeting whether we are able to continue as an IRS approved rescue. If the decision is made to terminate our rescue, the end date will be Dec. 31, 2024. We hope that will not be necessary.
Time is growing short, so if anyone is willing to come forward in any capacity to ensure the continuation of our wonderful PebbleCreek rescue organization, please contact me at 623-935-6651 or [email protected].
