The Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek will be holding our first regular meeting since our lengthy COVID interruption. Join us Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. in Room 100 of the Eagle’s Nest Activities Center. We are dedicating this meeting to discussing wildlife rescue in PebbleCreek, as well as providing an update on what we have been doing since our last membership meeting in March 2020.
Many residents of PebbleCreek probably think of us only as a club for pet owners. The Pet Companions Club was founded by a PebbleCreek resident in 1997 as a support group for pets and pet owners. Early on, the club started rescuing strays that entered our community. Over time, as the west Valley grew, more strays entered our community. The Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek evolved and became much more than just a club only for pet owners.
In 2004, seven years after our founding, we became an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization serving our community. We welcome as members not only pet owners, but anyone interested in animal welfare, including the rescue and care of stray and injured pets and wildlife. As is true of any nonprofit animal rescue organization, we need the support of our community to continue to exist and do what we do. We depend on membership dues and donations to support our rescue efforts, with the largest expense being veterinary bills. The community has also been very generous in donating pet supplies of all types. We hope more of our residents will support our animal rescue efforts by becoming dues-paying members, whether you are pet owners or not.
Even more than dues and donations, we need the support of volunteers if we are to continue to do what we do. We are a foster-based rescue and desperately need more foster homes for both dogs and cats. We need volunteers to assist in rescues. We also need volunteers willing to deliver injured wildlife to wildlife rescue organizations with which we work. Lastly, we need any PebbleCreek resident interested in animal welfare issues to step forward and contribute by running for positions on our board of directors.
We invite all residents, whether club members or not, to attend this important and informative meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.
