The PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) hosted another successful fundraising tournament as 153 ladies flooded both Tuscany golf courses with pink on Jan. 17. Co-chairs Judy Layton and Linda Thompson chose the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) as the cancer support organization to receive PCLGA proceeds in 2023.
Money was raised for the tournament through a 50/50 raffle and raffling off 33 beautiful baskets that had been donated by PCLGA golf groups and individual members. The Pinwheel Remembrance Garden (coordinated by Pam Volm) displayed 221 pinwheels where those touched by cancer are recognized in return for a small donation for each pinwheel registration.
Following the tournament, we gathered for lunch and recognized PCLGA members who are cancer survivors by giving them each a fresh pink carnation and a standing ovation!
The final tally raised by selling raffle tickets, pinwheels, and donations was $750 more than in 2022, with our grand total for 2023 at $7,225.63!
Although the weather did not cooperate and the courses were Cart Path Only, it did not deter participation. While we are all winners as we generously give, bragging rights go to these golf tournament scramble winners:
Flight 1—Susan Diamond, Jayne Dinan, Suzanne Kanaly, Nicola Witty (-10.19 net)
Flight 2—Sharma Fleming, Leslie Lowery, Emma Mosley, Liz Wenzler (-8.84 net)
Flight 3—Sharon Graville, Nancy Kyle, Becky Rio, Jane Wiederhold (-6.42 net)
Flight 4—Barbara Bates, Chris Duprey, Deanna Mendiola (-8.23 net)
The generosity of the PCLGA ladies is amazing!
