Unit Happenings

Unit 19 pool party

Barbara Risden and Donna Frole

June 28 was a hot day but made much better by being at the Oasis Pool for Unit 19’s annual pool party. After a dip in the pool to cool off, we enjoyed burgers and hot dogs, compliments of Jeff Otero, that were grilled to perfection. Afterwards, we had fun playing water volleyball as the sun was setting. We enjoyed meeting

new neighbors and chatting with long time neighbors.

On August 8 a small handful of early morning men met for breakfast at Eagle’s Nest. The eight men opened their get-together with a personal introduction of themselves. Host was Steve Braden in Unit 54. Next month’s breakfast get-together is scheduled for September 13; as yet the location is not determined.

Unit 33 – July luncheon

Unit 33 met at Old Pueblo on July 5 to celebrate the USA with wonderful Mexican food and a “flag” cake!

Unit 54 luncheons

Tuesday, July 31, 12 of the ladies from Unit 54 had a variety of luncheon choices at Times Square in Litchfield Park. The conversations where more lively than normal due to the wind storm we encountered last night. An outdoor ceiling fan had broken paddles reported and with pictures to prove it. Another lost a newly planted tree at the recently closed home. We all survived the misfortunes of Mother Nature’s anger, fortunately. I congratulate these hardy souls for braving the summer elements.

A dozen ladies from Unit 54 shared a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an amazing luncheon at Amuse Bouche in Surprise on June 21. Chef John didn’t disappoint us with our entree selections of Copper River Salmon, two different quiche selections, French onion soup and hamburger. Then we celebrated with apple pie and ice cream for Cheryle Kunkle’s birthday. I think we’ll have to do a return.
