Once again the holiday period provided opportunity for our PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) family, including many non-members within our community whose participation we welcome, to help others in need. The Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box ministry, which our church shares with several others in Goodyear, is a favorite. We shop for hygiene items, small clothing items, school supplies, stuffed animals and other toys that are small enough to fit into a shoe box. This year our church assembled 870 shoe boxes that were brought forward in a special dedication church service the first Sunday in December; the boxes then went to the local relay center where they started their long journey. The shoe boxes are distributed by Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry to children in 120 countries around the world. Many of these children have never before received a gift. This year some of our shoe boxes went to The Philippines, Peru, Ukraine and North Africa. Others went to two different hard to reach areas that cannot be identified for safety reasons. Next year, with the help of many within our PebbleCreek community, we look forward to implementing an online giving service for those of you who wish to support our cause even more, allowing us to keep sending even more shoe boxes.

Another way our Mission Committee reaches out to help within our local community is by coordinating the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner food baskets at Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank. This is a hands-on project in which members and friends fill dinner bags from the food bank’s inventory and distribute them to families in need of special assistance. Muscles that have not seen much activity are used at some of these workdays. Our church is so appreciative, as is the Agua Fria Food Bank, of the support given to this effort by our PebbleCreek community as a whole. Many of you have donated food items and money and several PebbleCreek clubs have chosen to support Agua Fria with significant donations.

PebbleCreek Community Church, through its Mission Committee, is dedicated to supporting these and other areas of need. We are a non-denominational church and meet in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join in our worship and fellowship with others in our community.
