Kumihimo Is Back

Carol Meier

Come and learn a new craft at the Creative Arts Center. Kumihimo is an ancient form of braiding developed by the Japanese that dates back to the 6th century. With Western influence it has evolved today to include beautiful cords used for jewelry, interior décor, and other complimentary art forms.

The class is taught by Carol Meier, a PebbleCreek resident who studied the art of Kumihimo in Hawaii and Japan. Carol teaches the traditional art form, which uses the Marudai versus the hand held foam disc.

Sign up for classes in the Creative Arts Center no later than Nov. 8. Six classes will be offered at a fee of $30 per class, for a total of $180. There will be 6 classes, 6 hours each class. The first class will start on Feb. 21, 2025. The class will be limited to the first 15 students who register and pay.

Carol will hold an informational meeting on Oct. 31 at the Creative Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. to answer questions you may have. For additional questions, email Carol Meier at [email protected].
