Brian Maine and Howie Tiger took First Flight low gross and tied for low net at this season’s first event of the Arizona Golf Association Senior Series. The tournament was held on Wednesday, March 25 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. The AGA Senior Series is a season long competition open to men and women age 55 and over. The format is two-person one best-ball net. Daily prizes are awarded for low gross and low net in each of four flights. Each flight is comprised of 10 two-person teams.

The series consists of 10 individual one day tournaments conducted throughout Arizona between March and September, culminating with the Tour Championship event. The remaining nine venues include: Sewailo Golf Club, Arrowhead Golf Club, Talking Rock, Desert Highlands, Blackstone Country Club, Superstition Mountain, Camelback (Ambiente), Phoenix Country Club and Gallery Golf Club.

The two-person teams earn points at each event (based on net score) and the top 40 teams at the end of the season are invited to participate in the finale. Each team chooses how many and which events to enter. This year Encanterra Country Club is hosting the Tour Championship on September 21.

Brian and Howie carded a five under par 66 gross (nine under par 62 net) playing the Eagle tees at Falcon Dunes. The front nine was a grind as they scored no gross birdies and needed to make some long par putts to stay even par. The back nine was a different story. Both birdied the tenth hole. Only one counted, but these birdies created some momentum to make four more birdies. Brian and Howie earned 10 points with this win. They are slotted to play four more Senior Series events this season. This is the second season for this team. They entered three events in 2014, won two and came in second in the other. Enough points were earned in these three events to qualify for the season ending championship.
