2019 Jewish High Holidays

Brenda Hyman

Many of us are away, but September will be upon us soon bringing us Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

High Holiday Services will be held again at the Tuscany Ballroom (11th year), led by our wonderful Rabbi David Mayer.

Rosh Hashanah Monday, Sept. 30 at 10:00 a.m. Light lunch will follow in the Chianti Room.

Kol Nidre Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6:00 p.m.

Yom Kippur Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Donations of $60 per person are requested for all three services. Send your checks (payable to Chavurah Shana Tovah – CST) to Gloria Kornbluth, 15687 West Avalon Drive, 85395.

Remember to check our website regularly. Signups, information and upcoming events can be found at www.pcjewsnews.org. There is also a link to the Shalom Club website.

We are looking for a shofar blower, an ancient musical horn typically made of a ram’s horn used for Jewish religious ceremonies, to bring in this New Year. Melissa Kallett has retired after many years of service and we thank her for her dedication. If you would like to volunteer and practice throughout the summer, please contact Gloria Kornbluth.

This is our annual observance, and we find that the camaraderie of our residents and participants is second to none. Remember, this is our community! If you would like a reading part (English or Hebrew), an honor, Torah sections, alliyot or help in any way, please contact Brenda Hyman at [email protected] or Marsha Langfuss at [email protected].

We want to see everyone back this year as well as many of the new faces of residents that have moved here over the last few years. Join us for this annual event. We are a community. Our existence over the years is based on the hard work of our attendees and our committees.

Shalom.
