The PebbleCreek Woodcarvers Club has most of the 2018/2019 carving season classes planned and it will be an exciting season. Classes start in October 2018 and the last one finishes in April 2019. For class details stop by the Quail Room in the Creative Arts Building and there is a sign-up list on the bulletin board with class dates, the instructor and costs. Here is a list of planned classes in no particular order: Cottonwood Bark, Hummingbird, Flower Bloom (Base for mounting Hummingbird), Wood Lathe Basics (Writing Pen), Woodcarving Basics, Pine Knot Carving, Giraffe, Northwest Ceremonial Bowl, Rainbow Trout, Parakeet, Native American Kachina, Corn Dancer Kachina, Western Tanger, Wolf Kachina, Soap Stone Carving and Tool Sharpening.
Formal classes are not scheduled during the summer but if you are a full time PebbleCreek resident contact Joel Hawkins via email at [email protected] or stop by the Quail Room and there will usually be someone there to get you started carving. During the summer there are normally carvers in the Quail Room Monday through Friday in the mornings except on Thursday when another club uses the room.
The Woodcarvers Club meets in the Quail Room in the Creative Arts Building on the Tuscany side of PebbleCreek. The club has general meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. from October to April. If you are interested in woodcarving stop by to see completed work and meet club members. Most members have had little or no experience carving prior to taking one of the club’s classes. Carving equipment is available for use during your first two classes to see if you like carving. So, stop by the Quail Room and see what you can create from a block of wood.
