The Women’s Giving Circle of PebbleCreek (TWGC) was formed in 2019 to provide a vehicle for women in the community to share their individual resources, talents, and energy to financially support nonprofits in the West Valley.
The group was launched under the leadership of Willa Kravitz, who has served as president since the club’s founding. Additional founding members include Maureen McCann, Ruth Shaffer, and Mary Wiese. Grace Cooper was also part of the founding of the organization but has since left the community.
TWGC’s inaugural effort was with a grassroots organization, Go With The Flow, that works with organizations such as shelters, schools, and food kitchens to provide menstrual hygiene products. In addition to collecting and donating thousands of dollars in product to Go With The Flow, our sewing team has been able to provide close to 5,000 sewn bags that we have packed with product; these beautiful bags are individually made and offer a sense of privacy when the product is distributed.
Our members have also enjoyed participating in local fundraising walks to support such efforts as Alzheimer’s Research, Suicide Prevention, and Heart Disease Awareness. The walks are for a good cause (TWGC has raised about $15,000!), offer a bit of exercise, and have been a great opportunity to get to know each other.
Over the past two years, through the organization’s well–received Date with a Plate event, TWGC has also been able to donate over $16,000 to Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank.
Finally, of course, the group makes time for fun by hosting such events as cocktail hours and swim parties.
The Women’s Giving Circle of PebbleCreek relies on many, many volunteers to plan and execute events, support the fundraising, lend their talents to sewing and creating auction items—you name it. We are eager to welcome new members and look forward to growing the organization into a significant and respected participant in meeting the evolving needs in the West Valley. There are several ways to learn more and get involved: All are welcome to attend the club’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chianti Room at Tuscany Falls. We also post information on our website, thewomensgivingcircle.org, and receive email at [email protected].
We are a relatively new PebbleCreek club and are proud to be making a difference in our community. We are always learning about emerging needs in the West Valley and looking for new ways to get involved. Join us!
