I’m always on the lookout for unique cloud formations, breathtaking sunsets, and unusual things, out of the ordinary, peculiar, humorous, noteworthy, natural disasters or nature’s magic!
This week I was lucky enough to capture on film two of God’s creatures that I don’t usually get to see, up close and so personal!
On Tuesday, about 6:00 p.m., I was driving down Clubhouse Drive, heading to a friend’s house for our weekly card game, when I noticed the tail end of an animal I thought was someone’s loose dog! As I slowed down to a crawl to see if I was right, it ran out from the bushes, across my path, and darted across the street to Pinchot.
I followed with my Samsung Galaxy at the ready! As I drove slowly behind him to get a picture, he ran right into someone’s front yard, turned around and stopped! I started snapping as fast as I could, before he turned around and walked behind the bushes and into the back yard. I was thrilled to have gotten so close to one of God’s creatures!
If that wasn’t exciting enough for me, I was blessed a second time that very evening on my way home from my very profitable game of Hand and Foot! Going down Verde Lane towards the Earll Gate, I see something in the middle of the road. I move over to the right so I won’t hit it! It didn’t move as I passed by and I can’t believe my eyes! Why, I think it’s, it’s, it’s an owl, and a young one at that! I turn around and go back to find out for sure if it’s an owl! Hot diggity dog! It’s still there and as I get closer, it flies over to a mailbox 20 feet away! I grab that ever ready Samsung and hit the Video button, because no one’s going to believe this!
I tape him for seven minutes and, snap 10 still shots of this magnificent bird! I am so elated, I could cry! Another one of God’s creatures I have never come across, except in the Zoo, has enriched my life today! God is good and I feel blessed every day!
Wow! What a memorable day, I’ve had, right in my own back yard! (Well—almost in my yard!)
So—All you nature-loving Creekers out there, I want to tell you to keep your eyes open and camera ready and see what’s right under your noses and in your own backyard!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
