Unit 1-1a Ladies’ Happy Hour
Zoe Carpenter
The ladies of Units 1 and 1A gathered on Cherri Baxter’s patio for Ladies’ Happy Hour. Wine, beverages and appetizers were provided. Each lady brought her own wine glass, $3 and wore her name tag.
Co-hostesses were Donna Wisnoski and Cherri Baxter.
The weather couldn’t have been better! Such a relaxing fun way to meet newcomers and renew friendships.
Unit 5 enjoys pool & pizza party
Maggi Maas
On Sunday, April 14, 36 residents of Unit 5 met at the Oasis Pool for a pizza party. There are quite a few new homeowners in Unit 5 so this was a great opportunity to meet and greet. Sue Tearpak did a great job making nametags so this helped everyone get to know each other.
Emma Mosley brought along a few fun games for those interested. After munching on pretzels and popcorn, pizza was delivered by a local restaurant and this was followed by fruit skewers and cookies.
The get together was planned and set up by Joanne Benz, Emma Mosley, Maggi Maas and Sue Tearpak, with help from Ron Maas; many volunteers helped to clean up.
The party was declared a success and we’re looking forward to more Unit 5 activities in the future.
Unit 19 breakfast
Barbara Risden and Donna Frole
Thirty wonderful Unit 19 residents turned out for breakfast at Eagle’s Nest on April 15. We had a few new people that we all got to meet and some regulars who we enjoy seeing at all our events. The food and coffee were good and the conversations interesting. We look forward to our next gathering.
Unit 27A Scatter Lunch
Camille Grabb
Whew! Temperatures are quickly rising in the desert so it was time for the Unit 27A ladies to gather for their annual Scatter Lunch before many neighbors begin their search for cooler places.
Red Lobster was the restaurant chosen by hostess Cec Roberts who reminded all 18 neighbors that it was “Tax Day” (April 15) and treated everyone to delicious chocolate coins as a reminder!
Whether there are journeys planned to Colorado, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Michigan or Europe – traveling by car, plane, motor home or cruise ship – the summer itineraries include searching for a shady cool spot. Without a doubt, that also includes folks traveling by golf cart all the way to one of the beautiful PC refreshing pools!
In the fall, when we’re back for our neighborhood gathering, we’ll bring back fun stories and fabulous pictures to share. Ah, the retired life!
Unit 33 luncheon
Leslie Darden
Unit 33’s Bag-ette Luncheon was hosted by Connie Clark, Katy Vidger, Kitty Schildt and Debbie Katakuskus. Unit 33 is home to Connie and Vern Clark. While they were in the navy Connie created the Bag-ette Luncheon for the navy wives. Ladies were to bring a special lunch to share. The tradition continued when they moved to PebbleCreek. Now it is an annual special day for the ladies of Unit 33 with lots of champagne and dessert (minus the ants)! Fun was had by all!
Unit 39 dinner
Unit 40 End of Season Party
Unit 40 held their annual End of Season Party at the Oasis Pool. About 45 of us had drinks, hot dogs, sandwiches and enjoyed the sunshine and comfortable temperatures overlooking the pool. It was a fun event wishing our neighbors who leave for the summer a fond farewell until their return in the fall. A big thanks to our social committee, Arlene Silverman, Cindy and Jeff Young, Sherry and Dick Atwater, Helene and Jerry Hausner, Alice and Charlie Miller and Keith Passafiumi for making it a successful event.
Unit 43b Dinner Party
Georgia and Sandy Horvath
The main objective for our dinner parties is to get to know each other, have fun and enjoy a wonderful dinner. All of those objectives were not only met, but exceeded. Sue Branton, President, did a wonderful job of organizing and hosting the party. The Chianti Room at the Tuscany Clubhouse was a fabulous venue for the party. We had full bar access and plenty of room to socialize. The dinner was buffet style, adding to the social aspect of our party. The Italian Chef’s Choice buffet was wonderful, topped off with a yummy array of cheesecake.
The Chianti Room was stunning with the sun setting through the massive window wall as we wound down the evening. Sue suggested that our next dinner party could be a “Taco Dinner” served via a Taco Trailer. Since this will be an outdoor party, maybe we could use the Oasis Pool. Sue is looking for someone to organize it. Please send her an email or call if you are interested: [email protected] or 602-505-9993.
Hope to see you at the next party!
Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon
Janet Miazga
Our monthly Ladies’ Luncheons came to another seasonal end with a small gathering at Gordon Biersch in Glendale. Faye Sessoms and Jerri Christensen took their turn hosting at a new venue where all 11 ladies enjoyed a fun lunch, sharing their summer travel plans. Sandra Adams’ niece, Sherry, was visiting from California and joined the gathering, getting a sense of the “sisterhood” we share here in PebbleCreek. Our gracious hostesses gave each of us a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift – a soft soap dispenser with one of a variety of lovely scents. Here’s wishing a wonderful summer and safe travels to all our dear Unit 51 neighbors; look for more activities come fall!
Unit 52 Ladies’ Cocktail Party
Liz Gibson
For a change of pace Unit 52 decided to have a Ladies’ Cocktail Party in April in place of a luncheon and it was met with a bang. More than 50 residents, including many of the originals from 2008 to the most recent, met the evening of Wednesday, April 17, for a great funfest.
Held at the home of Ed, the congenial male host and Meg Chrisman around their beautiful pool-side oasis setting, the guests were asked to bring an appetizer to share and the creative array was outstanding. The weather was perfect and everyone had a chance to mix and mingle.
We are always pleased to be known as the “party unit” and, indeed, a welcoming and friendly group!

Unit 58 Happy Hour
Chuck and Dee Ransom hosted the Unit 58 Happy Hour on Friday, April 26. Approximately 25 neighbors enjoyed appetizers and conversation. It won’t be long before many of our unit members head for cooler temps for the summer!
Unit 58 Ladies’ Luncheon
Dee Ramson hosted the Unit 58 Ladies’ Luncheon on April 19 at the Olive Garden on McDowell in Goodyear. It was a great success with over 20 ladies attending.
Unit 58 May luncheon
Diane Dunn was hostess for the Unit 58 Ladies’ Luncheon which was held on May 6 at Manuel’s Restaurant and Cantina in Goodyear.
Fifteen attendees enjoyed Mexican food and lively conversation.
Unit 61 celebrates Cinco de Mayo
Adrianne Beck
The Unit 61 Social Committee hosted a lively Cinco de Mayo party in the Chianti Room on Sunday, May 5. The fiesta was organized by Cynthia Schwartz and enjoyed by over 80 neighbors. The highlight of the evening was the game Majority Rules graciously facilitated by Melissa Kallet and everyone had a fantastic time.
Unit 62A April activities
Barb Downey
PebbleCreek offers so many activities and learning experiences but those of us in Unit 62A are so fortunate to have a social committee that plans extras for us, too! There are always additional social events to keep us close as a neighborhood and to boost camaraderie within our special group. The month of April was no exception!
Our unit volunteer outing focuses on St. Mary’s Food Bank, where we sort, inspect and pack vegetables, fruits and canned goods for those in need. There are jobs for those with strong backs as well as for those who cannot lift or bend too well. On the first Wednesday of each month you’ll find us caravanning to Surprise to offer our time and efforts to this wonderful organization.
Our Hand and Foot games have become a highlight of the month. When we play ladies only games twice a month and then, once a month, a co-ed event which garners much laughter and gnashing of teeth as we compete throughout the evening. We usually have five-six tables, which is a terrific turnout for a very small unit of only 47 homes. Co-ed Mexican Train games are another fun monthly event and even though we don’t play for money, the competition is no less intense! We’ve also started weekly Mah Jongg games for ladies who have played for years, as well as those of us newbies. Such a fun and challenging game!
The monthly Men’s Breakfast was held at Eagle’s Nest while the ladies enjoyed their luncheon at Cibo in Phoenix. Speaking of eating, a new outing for us was the Low Key Dueling Piano Bar at Westgate where we dined while listening to several outstanding piano players serenade us with music of all genres! We were really rockin’ out and singing along to many songs of the ’60s and ’70s as they played our requests! A very fun evening for our large group!
This month another 12 people from our unit toured the Tovrea Castle (“wedding cake” castle) off the 202 in Phoenix. Tickets must be purchased almost a year in advance with a maximum of 12 people per tour. We really enjoyed seeing the unique structure and cactus gardens as well as learning the history of the builder and the rehab projects for this unique city landmark.
The highlight of the month was the fantastic unit happy hour at the home of Janelle and Gary Watts! We had well over 50 attendees enjoying their beautiful home and expansive backyard while feasting on delicious appetizers, desserts and drinks! This monthly event is always well attended and so much fun to relax and catch up in a casual setting. We are so fortunate to have a small unit where we can meet and entertain in our own homes. Unit 62A – loving life in PebbleCreek!
Unit 64 monthly luncheon
On April 12, the ladies from Unit 64 enjoyed their monthly luncheon at the Haymaker’s Restaurant.
