Unit 8 Holiday Celebration
Alisa Moore
For several years, the Ladies of Unit 8 have celebrated the holidays with a gathering at Roman’s Oasis, enjoying games, excellent food and service, camaraderie, and good will. We also collect new toys and games for the Goodyear Fire Department’s annual toy drive. Anyone in Unit 8, whether a full or part-timer, is invited to join our monthly excursions! Contact Jane Holdcroft at jkh2125@aol.com.
Unit 8 Ladies’ Luncheon
Alisa Moore
In preparation for the demanding holiday season, the ladies of Unit 8 took a breather and enjoyed lovely Chinese food and hospitality at the P.F. Chang’s in Goodyear. January started an exciting new year of Unit lunches and other social activities. For any Unit 8 ladies in PebbleCreek full- or part-time who might be considering joining us, please contact Jane Holdcroft at jkh2125@aol.com. (Photo by Alisa Moore)
Unit 12 December Lunch and Donations
Cathy Howell
The ladies of Unit 12 celebrated our December lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse. Our host, Sandra Smith, chose the charity that we could donate to, and donate we did. The organization, A Mighty Change of Heart, will be receiving 51 pairs of children’s pajamas and 16 fleece blankets.
Unit 15 Holiday Gathering

Unit 20 Ladies’ Lunch
Peggy Pase
Ladies of Unit 20 met for their December lunch at the Eagle’s Nest alcove on Dec. 16. We enjoyed selections from the restaurant’s lunch menu and visited with each other. We brought gifts for the New Life Center and were updated by their community engagement manager Tori Lund (far left in photo) on recent improvements there. We’re glad she could join us for lunch and deliver our gifts to the center! (Photo by Peggy Pase)

Unit 20 residents met at a holiday happy hour hosted by Dennis and Denise Underwood on Dec. 10, 2025. We had a wonderful time visiting with neighbors, playing games, exchanging white elephant gifts, and eating delicious appetizers prepared by attendees. Unit 39 Cookie Exchange
Bev Buck
On Dec. 11, 2025, seven ladies from Unit 39 gathered for our first unit cookie exchange. We met at the lovely home of Jen Chase, who hosted the event. Pictured above, from left to right, are Rose Acklie, Jan Lee, Viki Nichols, Chris Syme, Bev Buck, Donna Moffatt, and Jen Chase. They shared homemade cookies along with their recipes. We enjoyed an afternoon of getting to know our neighbors while sampling each other’s cookies, and sharing favorite holiday memories. Thanks to Donna Moffatt for organizing our Unit 39 social gatherings. She is always open to ideas from neighbors, so if you live in Unit 39 and would like to help organize a gathering, get in touch with Donna.
Unit 40 Holiday Breakfast
DeeDee Fast
On Dec. 7, 2025, Unit 40 neighbors and guests met at the Eagle’s Nest restaurant for our annual holiday breakfast and food drive. We had a delicious meal, a great time visiting, and a successful food drive for the Agua Fria Food Bank.

Unit 42B celebrated the holiday season with a Christmas Martini party. Graciously hosted by Judi and Monte Williams and Terry and Janice Rossi, we had a wonderful evening. Our unit collected $220 to donate to Pet Companions of PebbleCreek.
Christmastime Bunco for Unit 44
Jean Harris
With year-end fast approaching, Unit 44’s monthly Bunco group met on Dec. 15, 2025, for yet another fun neighborhood get–together. Debbie Baron hosted, and the photo was taken by her adorable husband, Ron, who, not incidentally, is the world’s best candy maker and baker. Left to right: Judy Campbell, Judy Gorski, Jean Harris, Debbie Baron, Nancy Preston, Laurie Eickhorn, Jody Hoff, Peggy Hayner, Gayle Lopez, Gwen DeBernardi, Diane Russo, and Kelly Lopez.
First Unit 44 Men’s Breakfast of 2026
Dan Harris
On Jan. 7, the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant welcomed Unit 44’s monthly Men’s Breakfast Crew—nine guys who powered through the cloudy weather, splitting across two tables to fuel up for pickleball, golf, swimming, or some quality couch time. The crew chatted about world events, laughed over ridiculous AI-generated pics of those events, previewed the Fiesta Bowl, and caught up on life and the latest Unit 44 news.
Attendees from left to right include Doug Kirkpatrick, Ken Russo, Dan Harris (photographer), Don Paxton, Spike Razem, Darrell Livingston, Mike Stepien, Frank Gorski, and Bob Olson. No-shows include Jack Campbell (tee time moved up?) and Jim Miller (we’ll get ’em next time), plus Scott Crabtree, who was down with a bug—feel better soon, bro.

Unit 44 Gathers to Watch PC’s Golf Cart Parade
Jean Harris
Unit 44 was on hand to cheer our very own Debbie and Ron Baron in PebbleCreek’s 2025 Holiday Golf Cart Parade on Dec. 16, 2025. The Barons decorated their golf cart as a “Radio Flyer” red wagon and dressed in Christmas fun outfits for their first participation in the annual parade. Fun fact: The Radio Flyer company, founded by Italian immigrant Antonio Pasin, so named the wagon after two of the most popular, high-tech inventions of the time: the radio (celebrating Guglielmo Marconi’s wireless telegraphy) and the airplane (honoring Charles Lindbergh’s solo flight), symbolizing modern marvels in the 1920s. While Debbie and Ron are much younger than the 1920’s iconic children’s toy, the theme nonetheless gave everyone a happy smile to see their decorated cart pass by. After the parade, Unit 44 neighbors gathered at Dan and Jean Harris’s house for refreshments. A lovely day in a lovely neighborhood with lovely neighbors. Cheers!

Seated: Gwen DeBernardi, Judy Gorski, Jody Hoff. Standing: Nancy Preston, Deb Fahey, Susan Labasky, Donna Thomas, Debbie Baron, Barbara Kamm, Lee Ann Thompson, Gayle Lopez, Peggy Hayner, Jean Harris, Judy Campbell, Kathy Clark, Tammy LaFrazia, and Diane Russo.
The Ladies of Unit 44 Share Their Favorite Things
Jean Harris
If the ladies of Unit 44 were to rewrite the Sound of Music’s “My Favorite Things” song, they would think less about raindrops on roses and instead agree that good friends and neighbors are what make life a blessing. When the world’s hard, when life’s too much, when we’re feeling sad, we simply enjoy our get-togethers, and none of us feel so bad! Gathering at Gwen DeBernardi’s on Dec. 13, 2025, for their annual holiday party, the ladies first dined on homemade lasagna, salad, homemade bread, and desserts (did we mention that Gwen is a fabulous cook?), and then shared a favorite gift item in a fun game where the gifts were chosen and many “swiped.” It was a night of getting to know each other, with a lot of laughs and not one fistfight over the cute purse, Hobby Lobby gift card, or light-up snowman decoration! Thanks to neighbor Jim Thompson for taking the holiday photo.
Unit 46 Holiday Caravan
Spike Razem
On Dec. 18, 2025, more than 35 residents, visitors, family members, and doggies participated in Unit 46’s exciting annual Holiday Golf Cart Caravan. After efficiently assembling for a group photo, we all jumped aboard 20 golf carts, many decorated with fantastic lights, ornaments, and colors. Then, we lined up and followed the lead cart expertly driven by Vicky Ferraresi and Chuck Hakkarinen. At approximately 5:30 p.m. (i.e., sunset), we slowly traveled

Unit 46 residents, friends, and families gathered before caravanning through the streets of PebbleCreek.
through many festive PebbleCreek streets to view some spectacular lights displays.
Once we experienced the many awesome, colorful light shows and the exhilarating cool fresh air, we returned to the home of Susan and Dennis Gildea on N. 165th Dr. There, the party continued with delicious appetizers and desserts along with special beverages.
It definitely was a very enjoyable time celebrating the holiday season with neighbors.
Thanks much to Vicky and Susan for organizing another fun, successful Unit 46 event!
Unit 48 Bunco Babes
Rochelle Zuckerbrow
On Dec. 15, 2025, the Bunco Babes of Unit 48 celebrated the holiday season. We played Bunco then had a gift exchange. We had a potluck of sides to go with ribs made by Sheryl McMalam. Thanks to Joanie O’Neil for hosting and always organizing our monthly Bunco game.
Unit 62A Christmas Party at the Langhals
Toni Erickson
The December happy hour for Unit 62 took place on Dec. 19, 2025, at the beautifully decked-out home of Rick and Wendy Langhals. Holiday cheer was everywhere as neighbors enjoyed an ugly sweater contest, Christmas caroling, a guessing game on just how many Nativity scenes Wendy has collected, and a festive fill-in-the-blank contest.
Bragging rights for the ugly sweater contest went to Barb Downey and Jerry Wrout, pictured standing to the right of our wonderful hosts. We also paused the fun to sing birthday wishes to Julie Greenbank (sitting in the center of the sofa), who celebrated her special day.
A big round of applause goes out to our fantastic Activities Committee: Julie Greenbank, Laurie Wyman, Janelle Watts, Marilyn Coates, and outgoing member Barb Downey. Thank you for your creativity, time, and dedication in planning such a great 2025 year. We also want to welcome Judy Meservey, who will be stepping in for Barb for 2026.
Once again, thank you to everyone whose hard work and commitment help make Unit 62A such a fun and wonderful place to live.
Unit 49A Celebrates the New Year
Robin Macik
Unit 49A held its 3rd Annual New Years Eve Progressive Party. More than 50 residents joined together to celebrate 2026, Eastern time. The hosts this year were Nancy and Larry, Linda and Dave, and Linda and Rosemary. Each host had a different theme and served a variety of delicious food and beverages. Linda and Dave even had us play a little game, How Many Chocolate Kisses in the Jar. Brian Fogelman was the big winner. What did he win, the jar of Kisses of course. There were 126 Kisses in the jar—bet that’s the most Kisses he received in one evening!
Unit 49A Holiday Party
Robin Macik
Unit 49A’s 4th Annual Holiday Party was held this year as a festive luncheon at Cooper’s Hawk. The food was an absolute hit! We shared plenty of laughs during the Holiday Trivia game and wrapped up the afternoon with a hearty (and very spirited!) rendition of the “12 Days of Christmas.” Almost 50 neighbors joined in the fun.
Unit 51 Holiday Lunch
Janet Miazga
December 11, 2025, found 11 ladies, including our hostess Dee Blount’s visiting daughter, Christine, gathering at BJ’s for a holiday lunch. Dee decorated the tables in Christmas garland and gave the ladies holiday cupcakes and marshmallow Santa candy. It’s hard to believe another year has flown by, but the gals of Unit 51 look forward to yet another year of enjoyable luncheons.

Unit 60 donates Cookies to Luke Airforce Base each year. This year we reached an all-time high of 423 dozen cookies, making us the reigning champions in PebbleCreek!
Our baking Queen is Maggie Schmidt with a whopping 43 dozen cookies! Her time and effort is truly appreciated. Wally Campbell, PebbleCreek coordinator for this effort, commented that we have all made a difference in the lives of Luke Air Force Base families.
Unit 61 Golf Cart Parade/Potluck Social
Laurie Miller
The Unit 61 Golf Cart Parade and Potluck Social was held on Dec. 11, 2025, at the home of Vicki Barber with 49 residents in attendance for a festive evening of holiday fun. Decorated golf carts rolled through the neighborhood to enjoy the Christmas decorations before returning to share a delicious potluck meal, hot apple cider, and lively conversation. Adding to the excitement were prizes awarded for golf cart decorations: Best Use of Lights—Donna and Bob Iverson, Most Humorous—Lynn and Dennis Grice, and Most Creative—Pat and Ken Hacker.
Special thanks to Vicki Barber for generously sharing her home and donating the prizes for the golf cart winners and to all who assisted with setup preparations and cleanup afterwards.

Unit 61 Holiday Dinner
Laurie Miller
The Unit 61 Holiday Dinner Party was a festive evening held on Dec. 7, 2025, in the Chianti Room at the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse. Thirty-nine residents gathered to celebrate the season and enjoy each other’s company over a delicious buffet dinner. The room was filled with warm conversation, laughter, and the spirit of the holidays, making it a memorable night for all who attended.
In keeping with Unit 61’s cherished tradition of giving back, residents generously donated food for the local food bank. The collective effort resulted in an impressive126 pounds of food donated to the Agua Fria Food Bank along with a $500 check to further support their mission. The evening was not only a joyful holiday celebration, but also a reflection of the unit’s ongoing commitment to caring for those in need.
Unit 61 Toys for Tots Collection
Laurie Miller
Unit 61 showed outstanding generosity and holiday spirit by collecting many toys for the Toys for Tots program sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The impressive donations filled three huge boxes, reflecting the residents’ heartfelt commitment to helping bring joy to children in need. The toys were graciously picked up by LCpl Kevin Cabrera and LCpl Jennifer Jemenez, who ensured their safe delivery to the destination where they will be sorted for distribution, making Unit 61’s contribution a meaningful part of this treasured holiday tradition.
