Unit 17 Neighborhood Party

Judy Ayers

Unit 17 had their neighborhood party at Sunrise Park headed by Tina McClure, Unit Contact, and Bruce and Alice Dice, and decorations by Lucy Saling. More than 50 neighbors were at the party! There was a wonderful buffet of pulled pork prepared by Tina’s son, sloppy joes prepared by Alice, decorations by Lucy and Meghan Saling, and music and entertainment provided by Judy Shaffer. It was such a great time together with the neighborhood!

Unit 44 Celebrates “Seniors” Prom

Jean Harris

So Good! So Good! Prom Night for Unit 44 “Seniors” and their very FUN friends (Friends of Unit 44) joyously celebrated what for some of us was our first prom. Held on Feb. 13, the night kicked off with drinks and appetizers, followed by dinner, dessert, and dancing. Jody Hoff and Pam Steinburg, along with Debbie Baron and Jean Harris and their husbands, masterfully decorated the Chianti Room at Tuscany Falls, creating Magical Memories for us all, including our DJ, Brian Starr, back for his second gig with us. All the ladies, wearing a tiara or not, were Prom Queens. The choice for Prom King was equally easy, as we crowned our superstar DJ, Brian, to his genuine surprise. Huge thanks to all who attended and for those who attended to us. We are truly blessed that living in PebbleCreek offers opportunities to express the joy of community and life.

The growing Unit 46 Pickleball Group includes (standing) Tina Lingo, Ty Lingo, Don Eisenberg, JungSuk Mallen, Jacki McAfee, (kneeling) Spike Razem, Julie Eisenberg, Karen Ramberg.

Thanks, Julie!

Unit 49A at Goodyear Ballpark

Robin Macik

On March 5, 40 residents of Unit 49A enjoyed a day at the Goodyear Ballpark watching the Reds take on the Dodgers. The fun began as soon as we arrived on the Terrace, Doug (PC resident) welcomed us and was quite entertaining. Before the game started, everyone visited and helped themselves to hot dogs, chicken strips, chips, popcorn, and an assortment of cookies and brownies. A big thank you to Brenda Sand for organizing the event and Lori Adair for being kind enough to take our picture. A great time was had by all, and the Cincinnati Reds won the game.

Unit 51 Lunch at Papa Paul’s

Janet Miazga

On Feb. 12, Unit 51 had a nice turnout of 19 ladies for our monthly luncheon. The service and food at Papa Paul’s was outstanding. Everyone enjoyed not only their selections but also the gaily wrapped chocolate hearts sitting in pink plastic napkin lined cups. The hostesses, Linda Schmidt and Mardelle Widmer, assured everyone that they had removed all calories from the candy beforehandwhat a nice Valentine’s treat!

The table of six included Mike Strong, Fred Kettlewell, Steve Domholt, Peter Chimicles, Steve Lookabaugh, and Bill Many. Next month we’ll have lunch together.

Regrettably the camera did not capture the handsome faces of Frank Rodgers and Kirk Stetson, but our charming waitress, Denice, who took the photo, offered to comp the breakfast for both of them (LOL).

Unit 58 Men’s Breakfast

Ed Raker

Well there’s just no stopping men’s breakfast group of Unit 58.  You’d think that they really believe that it’s the most important meal of the day. Oh wait, maybe it is the most important meal of the day. In any case, they keep coming, and in increasing numbers. So things may be going well. One of the largest groups we had in recent months were happily assembled, this time on Feb. 25 at Times Square. Check out the smiling faces.

Unit 60 Baseball Event

Unit 60 had 90 people attend the Seattle Mariners/Cincinnati Reds game on Feb. 22. Janine Bird did a fantastic job arranging the event! We enjoyed the new Left Field Landing with food and drinks available. Hopefully, this will be a recurring event for our Unit.

Forty-six residents gathered at the Oasis Pool on Feb. 13 for a lively happy hour filled with tasty appetizers and refreshing drinks. The highlight of the evening was the rousing rounds of Left, Center, Right with laughter and friendly competition keeping players on their toes, with cheers and playful groans filling the air. It was a fun-filled evening packed with energy, camaraderie, and plenty of smiles.

Unit 61 February Ladies’ Lunch

Laurie Miller

On Feb. 11, ladies of Unit 61 gathered for another fabulous luncheon and afternoon tea at The Spicery in Glendale. In the spirit of an early “Galentine’s Day,” it was truly ladies celebrating ladiesfriendship, laughter, and the special bond they share. Surrounded by charming decor and delicious treats, the afternoon was filled with warm conversation and heartfelt appreciation for one another.

From left to right around the table are: Bruce Banks, Gary Watts, Tom MacKenzie, Howard Pakin, Mike Razen with thumbs up, George Evans, and Bob Erickson.

The Monthly Unit 62A Men’s Breakfast

Toni Erickson

The second Wednesday of each month features Unit 62A’s Men’s Breakfast at Eagle’s Nest or Time Square Restaurants. Most of the men attending have been enjoying this event since it was first started by organizer Gary Bomar 8+ years ago. The February breakfast included some interesting conversations (many of which need to stay private … haha). Golf is always a popular subject around the table. Howard Parkin, of Original Pancake House fame, once caddied for Sam Snead.

George Evans mentioned the excellent health care provided by City of Hope. Spike Razem took notice as colonoscopies were then discussed … ugh. Bob Erickson collected a small bag of beverage top tabs and advised how he and wife Toni have used this cause to help Shriners provide needed wheelchairs to children. Bruce Banks told some interesting stories about his important role with Pet Companions in rescuing dogs. And of course, the much-beloved Tom MacKenzie had to enlighten the table about the significance of his “cigar” shirt.

Eagle’s Nest Restaurant also helped in the morning’s success with delicious food and excellent service, especially by server Jess. The fun, interesting, long-time tradition of Men’s Breakfast continues in Unit 62A.
