Unit Happenings

Unit 3 residents enjoying the holiday festivities on our cul-de-sac.

Unit 3 Holiday Celebration

Linda Babcock

Residents of Unit 3 had a holiday celebration on Dec. 17 that will be remembered for a long time. Thanks to many helping hands and the leadership of our social chairwoman, Shonnie Harrison, our cul-de-sac location was perfect. We had the lights of Christmas filling the street, a Christmas tree fully decorated with gifts beneath, and tables laden with a festive Christmas dinner, including a chocolate fountain for dessert.

There were Christmas carols with special musical entertainment by our former neighbor Kathy Mitchell, fire pits to cozy up to keeping us warm, and lots of Christmas cheer. The neighbors all gathered in their Christmas apparel, their cheeks all rosy, and then, what to our surprise, Santa Claus appeared to spread holiday magic! Our next social event will be a spring gathering, which we are all looking forward to.

Unit 18 Santa, Songs, and Snacks

Karen Peterson

Unit 18 had a delightful Christmas get-together on Dec. 15. There was great food, refreshing drinks, singing of Christmas carols, and Santa Claus! It was a wonderful evening with wonderful friends.

Unit 43B Holiday Party

Susan Knox Wilson

For the first time in two years, neighbors in the PebbleCreek Villas Association (Unit 43B) gathered to celebrate the holidays and meet some of the new homeowners who have moved in since January 2019.

Longtime Villas residents Mary Ann Chamberlin, Christine Douglas, Mary Freund, Wanda Guidry, Clarisa Harper, Georgia Horvath, and Sue Wilson introduced the 18 new homeowners in attendance with a short profile of each. Held in the Chianti Ballroom, the party featured PebbleCreek catering’s delicious Italian buffet, charming party favors handcrafted by Christine Douglas, and a raffle of the festive table centerpieces.

Unit 44’s Surprise Visit from Santa

Spike Razem

The holiday season was celebrated in Unit 44 with a fun-filled event featuring decorated golf carts, festive Christmas lights, Krispy Kreme donuts, and a surprise visitor from the North Pole.

Laurie and Mark Eichkorn, along with Dawn and Spike Razem, organized a golf cart caravan event—all for a good, charitable cause. There were 26 people, including residents, kids, and grandkids, 14 golf carts, two scooters, and one car parading through the streets of PebbleCreek, listening to holiday music and admiring some amazing front yard Christmas light displays. Each family brought a bag of non-perishable goods to help St. John Vianney’s Food Pantry in feeding needy families in our community.

After enjoying an hour driving through specially selected streets in Eagle’s Nest and Tuscany Falls, we ended the evening in the Eichkorn’s driveway/garage munching on holiday donuts and drinking spirited beverages.

Congrats to Wayne and Donna Thomas, who won the best-decorated golf cart contest. A special thanks to Brad Eichkorn (aka Jolly St. Nick), who brought cheer and joy to all the boys and girls in Unit 44.

Other fun events last month in Unit 44 were the Men’s Breakfast arranged by Mike Stepien, Billiards Night organized by Dan Harris, Ladies’ Luncheon featuring a festive gift exchange at Eagle’s Nest, and, to usher in 2022, a fun, champagne-popping New Year’s Eve party at the home of Scott and Deborah Crabtree.

As our snowbird neighbors escape the frigid north and return to PebbleCreek, the good times continue to look sunny and bright in Unit 44.

Unit 52 Ladies’ Luncheon

Liz Gibson

Eight ladies enjoyed the Nov. 10 luncheon at N-Dub Pizza Pub, including three new residents to our unit. The food was great, and everyone said they would go back and have pizza there again. N-Dub opened up early just for our group, so we received special treatment. We also enjoyed enthusiastic discussions about holiday plans and travel.

Unit 52 Candy Cane Gala

Liz Gibson

Unit 52 held their annual holiday party in the Chianti Room on Dec. 9.

The 70 or so residents in attendance started with cocktails and a social hour before coming for dinner into the beautifully decked-out Chianti Room with a charming candy cane theme, created by social committee member Donna Strand.

The dining experience was wonderful with both excellent food and service.

The beautiful centerpieces were given to an individual at each table. The great music provided by Mike Diliberto of Forever Young kept everyone dancing throughout the evening.

It was a very festive evening, and a good time was had by all!

Unit 62A Holiday Happy Hour

Toni Erickson

The holiday happy hour was hosted by Paula Hupka and Gerry Hibbard at their exquisitely decorated and festive home on Dec. 20. More than 30 neighbors brought an appetizer or dessert to share, along with their beverage of choice. Normal happy hours occur between 5 and 7 p.m.; however, the music enticed several dancers to stay past the 7 p.m. curfew. It was definitely a great party to celebrate the 2021 year-end!

Unit 62A My Favorite Things Party

Toni Erickson

Unit 62A ladies shared their annual favorite things party at the beautiful home of Joanne Wrout. Each gal brought their favorite item valued at $20 or less and explained its significance of being their favorite item. Then the game began with everyone drawing numbers to see the order of who selects an item from all those shared. Each favorite piece could only be stolen once throughout the night. Favorite items included candles, a dip chiller, liquor, a comfy throw, a travel bag, bath salts, Christmas tree décor, and so many more. Regardless if one received their first choice or not, there were great gift ideas to purchase in the future for yourself or others!

62B residents’ golf carts and cars lined up and ready for the holiday lights tour.

Unit 62B Holiday Traditions

Lin Ochs

Unit 62B is a close-knit, friendly, and generous community that established a couple of holiday traditions: our annual gifts to Luke Air Force Base in-need families and our annual holiday lights tour.

Unit 62B Generosity to Luke Air Force Base Families

This is the fourth year that Unit 62B collected monies to aid Luke Air Force families deemed in need and vetted through the Luke family support group. Collectively, our residents donated $3,300, and on Dec. 6, Kay Skripka presented 33 $100 BX gift cards to Master Sergeant Kirk O’Dell at Luke Air Force Base. The master sergeant responded with a heartwarming thank you note stating his personal delight and how thrilled the service members and their families will be at receiving this help. It’s wonderful to live in such a charitable unit!

Unit 62B Holiday Lights Tour

Unit 62B held their fourth annual holiday lights tour the evening of Dec. 16. More than 75 neighbors gathered in the courtyard and driveway of Tom and Renee Ward’s home, where they enjoyed a warm holiday beverage, cookies, and holiday good cheer before departing on the lively tour. At dusk, 20 golf carts (followed by 10 cars) loaded up, and two caravans took off for a dazzling PebbleCreek light show.

Kim and Lisa Reichert and Patrick and Deni Byrne served as grand marshals, assisted by Bob and Linda Wainman and Jack Engele and Joan Germaine. Caboose teams of Nancy Moore and Cindy Zaklan and Tom and Renee Ward ensured smooth progress and no lost carts.

As always, residents enjoyed the annual tradition and look forward to next year’s event. Many thanks to the holiday lights committee for once again planning and executing a delightful neighborhood gathering.
