Unit 19 Get-Togethers
Barbara Risden and Donna Frole
Unit 19 had not one, but two, breakfast get-togethers in October. On Oct. 8, 12 people gathered to share a meal and get to know each other. Then on Oct. 9, 13 people enjoyed breakfast and conversation. We have a lot of new residents in our unit, and it was nice to meet and share things about each other. Eagle’s Nest Restaurant did a good job of setting up and serving. Thank you to Sabrina, Jess, and Yvette.
Unit 44 Has a Fun Billiards Group
Spike Razem
Whether it be eight-ball, nine-ball, or straight pool, the Unit 44 Billiards Group is reserving the newly felted tables and having fun at the PebbleCreek billiards room.
Led by the talented, incomparable stickman, Dan Harris, the group is having no problem putting super-fancy English on the new, red-spotted cue balls.
Any additional Unit 44 billiards enthusiasts are encouraged to contact Dan at 832-228-4192 for information regarding upcoming play. Then, get ready to practice your break shot, bank shot, call shot, cut shot, jump shot, trick shot, etc.!
Good times continue in Unit 44!

Unit 52 Brunch
Liz Gibson
Unit 52 was back in swing with a brunch on Sept. 26 at the popular Haymaker restaurant. Seventeen men and women enjoyed great food and service and the much-missed fellowship of the past year.
The brunch was hosted by Social Chair Rhae Jean Magnuson. Unit 52 is looking forward to many social events this year and next, including a ladies’ luncheon on Oct. 14.
Unit 52
Liz Gibson
After a long year of missing Unit 52’s usual social events, 13 ladies attended the Sept. 15 luncheon at Augie’s Sports Bar. We were delighted to have two newbies in attendance, and everyone enjoyed getting back together again.
Many new events are in the works, including our annual street party with the popular food wagon.

Samba is a game being played regularly on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month now.
Our unit initiated a new event, Poker Night. With a $5 and up buy-in, each player can elect to play five “easy” poker games, with tip sheets to facilitate those less knowledgeable players. Gamblers included Lynn and Bruce Banks, Joanne and Jerry Wrout, Cathe and Mike Pruyn, Patti and Mike Trapp, Barb Downey, Spike Razem, Janelle and Gary Watts, Jackie and Tom Bachmann, and Jackie MacKenzie.
This summer, we chose to support Circle the City for our volunteer project. Circle the City is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the health and wellness of the Phoenix homeless population. We put together 100 Kindness Kits that consisted of a bottle of water, socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, sunscreen, lip balm, snacks, cough drops, Kleenex, bandaids, and a note of encouragement. Circle the City will provide these kits to their homeless clients. Our very generous unit also collected $250 to donate to this organization. After our assembly line at the Oasis ramada, we enjoyed pool time and pizza!
