Unit 8 celebrating in style
Alisa Moore
The ladies of unit 8 gather monthly to share camaraderie, good food, and fun at local restaurants and, occasionally, at someone’s lovely home. Jane Holdcroft, who spearheads our unit meetings, hosted 28 of us for a great potluck lunch in the wonderful October sunshine. On November 13, we will be at Dino’s on Dysart and then for our holiday celebration on December 12, we will be back at Jane’s, whose decorations have no equal. If you know anyone in unit 8 who is interested in meeting her neighbors and would like to join us, please have her email Jane at [email protected]. Happy holidays, everyone! PebbleCreek is a great place to enjoy this delightful season.
Unit 18 Cocktail party and nibbles
Jimmy Buffet
Unit 18 (also affectionately known as galleria gulch) holds a respected and honored history of outrageous and regular parties. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, we revived the tradition with a raucous gathering of unit 18 residents and guests enjoying great music, delicious shared finger food, renewed friendships, and more than a few cocktails.
It was a grand time, no one fell in the pool, and we’ve even got the next few parties already lined up.
For other units planning a party, we’d like to share some lessons learned:
Encourage guests to bring/share their favorite libations.
Avoid noise complaints by making sure all your neighbors are at the party.
Consider using evite to coordinate invitations and RSVPs. It made everything so much easier.
Unit 18’s socializing philosophy: It’s five o’clock somewhere.
Unit 20 ladies’ November luncheon
Carolyn Rota
On Nov. 6, 2019, 16 lovely ladies from Unit 20 held their monthly ladies’ luncheon at Macaroni Grill in Goodyear. This luncheon was hosted by Anna Thomas. Anna presented each lady with a beautiful, “thank you for coming” gift. At our luncheons we catch up with what is new in the Unit and in PebbleCreek. We had some good news, our neighbor, Julie AuBuchon has signed up to be our Unit Rep. Julie will be sending out updated information concerning our Unit such as, when our streets will be paved, etc. She will shortly send out an email explaining her duties and how to contact her if you have any questions. Thank you, Julie, for volunteering and thank you, Anna, for a lovely afternoon. So that’s the news from Unit 20 except for wishing that all of you had a very Happy Thanksgiving and hoping your Christmas/holiday season is just as joyous. Stay well and travel safe.
Unit 27A Cooling Down gathering
Camille Grabb
Whew! Desert temperatures have finally dipped below three digits! It was time for Unit 27A’s third annual “Cooling Down” party on Sunday, Nov. 3!
The fabulous weather and picture-perfect location (the third tee of Tuscany’s East Course is the backdrop to the Schmidt’s and Grabb’s patios), welcomed the neighbors who may have sweltered through the summer heat in the desert, journeyed somewhere in search of cooler climates, traveled to far-away vacation retreats, or visited family around the country.
Gathering with neighborly good friends, planning fun-filled outings, and catching up with never-ending stories is what makes this unit exceptional!
2019 Unit 34 Christmas Animated Toy Show
Bob Young
Ho, Ho, Ho, the Holiday season is here and once again the residents of Unit 34 invite you to our fourth Christmas Animated Toy Show.
What is a Christmas Animated Toy Show? We decorate our mailboxes and each mailbox features an animated interactive toy. Children of all ages enjoyed our show so much last year, we decided to invite our performers back to entertain you.
Performers include Santa, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Rudolph, and many others plus a few new characters. All our characters are perfect for entertaining friends, family, and guests. The show features over 40 animated toys. Your grandchildren will love them almost as much as you do.
If you plan to look at the lights and decorations in PebbleCreek this season, by yourself, in a group, with or without grandchildren, or just out for a walk, or ride in your golf cart, please be sure to stop over and enjoy our show. The displays can be seen night or day weather permitting. All you have to do is push a button then enjoy the entertainment. Some of the animated toys light up, all sing and dance. Each performance lasts about ten- to 15-seconds. The displays will be up starting Friday, Nov. 15 and will be taken down Wednesday, Jan. 15. Our mailman, Dion, enjoys them so much he activates one toy every day until he has seen all 40 plus performances.
Where: Unit 34. (Tuscany side take Clubhouse Drive to Sarival turn right on Sarival to Monterey. Take a right on to Monterey then straight ahead to 162nd Lane.
You may remember seeing a real choo choo train going around the streets of PebbleCreek during the year. It’s called The Urbin Express Train, and makes a special stop to see our displays. If you want to take a tour on the Urbin Express please contact Martha Urbin, 616-283-0028, to arrange a special “See the Lights” tour. The residents of Unit 34 hope to see you again this year. If you have any questions please contact me, Bob Young, at 314-614-3058 or [email protected]. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season.
Unit 41 Halloween party
Phyllis Minsuk
Unit 41 neighbors and friends of Jacque and Ken Prom celebrated Halloween with creative costumes and loads of food and drink. We had everything from witches, pumpkins, an invisible man, blind dates, dinosaurs, and salt & pepper.
Unit 41 luncheon
Cathy Guerriero
The ladies of Unit 41, aka 41 Cactus Cuties, meet up every other month at Eagles Nest to catch up over lunch.
“We make it a point to give back to our community, instead of going off property,” Cathy Guerriero, organizer of the group for the last 10 years, said.
Betty Royle started the ladies luncheon as a great way to know your neighbors and make friends. As Anita Asp commented today, “This group has such a good vibe!”
Unit 52 Fiesta party
Liz Gibson
It was a beautiful night Sunday, Oct. 20 when about 50 Unit 52 partygoers enjoyed a Cocktail and Finger Food Fiesta.
Held on the John Harless patio, the food was wonderful, the sangria flowed, and the neighbors partied on! Social Chair Rhae Jean Magnuson and Sydney Nations organized this event and delivered some excess party food to the grateful firemen.
Unit 52’s last event of the year will be our annual holiday party Holi-Daze to be held Dec. 16 in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room.
Unit 51 pool picnic
Janet Miazga
It was a great way to gather with friends we hadn’t seen all summer, and the late afternoon/early evening weather was perfect on Nov. 2! Unit 51 held their first “Pool Picnic Party” at the Oasis Pool with a turnout of 48 neighbors. Grill masters Bill Matteucci and Dennis Miazga served up burgers and hot dogs, while a buffet of delicious appetizers, sides, salads, and desserts were brought and enjoyed by all. Everyone complimented the unit social committee for a job well done, and exclaimed they thought the setting was perfect for an autumn gathering of good friends!
Unit 53
Sandy Stephens
Sandy Stephens hosted the Unit 53 gals Monday, Oct. 21 for wine, champagne, and munchies including macaroons which are always a hit with them. They all enjoy getting together for conversation and catching up and their hostess always gets a great deal of enjoyment when bringing them together. Twenty-four gals congregated in the kitchen and dining room.
Unit 53 October happy hour
Sandy Stephens
Ron and Mary Jane Mormile hosted Unit 53’s October happy hour at the Oasis Pool Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Mary-Jane cooked up loads of juicy sausages for about 50 neighbor friends who brought side dishes and desserts which were all tempting along with whatever they wanted to drink. There were orange and black balloons at all the tables. After most were finished eating, Ron said he would be handing out gifts to those who were sitting with a balloon on their chair but they had to read what was on the gift. The gifts were packages of napkins with very funny sayings that brought us all to laughter. Ron and Mary-Jane hosted a fun and lively happy hour on a night with perfect weather for sitting outside.
Unit 54 welcome back party
Barbara Dunson
Unit 54 had their annual Welcome Back Party at the Oasis Pool on Friday, Oct. 18. Catching up on each other’s summer travels, how some spent their first summer in PebbleCreek, plans for holiday guests to arrive, and introducing ourselves to many new-build homeowners. Unit 54 is all filled up with the exception of one left to be sold. Summer activity in the Unit consisted of monthly Men’s Breakfasts organized by Steve Braden, movie outing coordinated by Pat Gray, and a shopping trip to Kierland’s put together by Pat Biancardi. With everyone nearly all back we can now focus on November get togethers.
Unit 54 men at Top Golf
Steve Braden
Our Unit 54 men’s group chose Top Golf this month instead of our normal monthly breakfast. From left to right: Mike Strong, Steve Braden, Bob Sinnard, Ron Payton, and Mike Hurst.
Unit 54

Unit 54 Ladies Lunch at PF Chang’s served 16 ladies on Nov. 6. From Mandarin crunch salad, egg drop soup, sushi, dumplings, spring rolls, and lettuce wraps everything was presented by their efficient staff. New homeowners are having a chance to meet long time Unit residents with these relaxed outings. The diverse backgrounds and talents of Unit 54 residents never cease to amaze me. So very fortunate to have these remarkable individuals as neighbors. Our Unit continues to grow each month. One lot is all that is left to sell.
