Unit 5
On May 16, 17 ladies from Unit 5 met for lunch at Mimi’s Cafe. As everyone was seated around one table, this led to much lively conversation. Emma Mosley asked if anyone was interested in learning to play Mahjong, and several ladies expressed interest. Emma arranged lessons for this group in June and may add classes at a later date if other ladies are also interested.
The next event, open to all Unit 5 residents, is lunch at BJ’s restaurant in Peoria, to be held on July 9 at noon. Those interested in attending should contact Maggi Maas at 623-935-7249 or [email protected], so we can get a head count.

On May 15, 17 gals from Unit 20 enjoyed a delicious lunch at Bella Luna restaurant. The conversation never stopped as we caught up with each other and talked about summer plans. See you all in the fall. Have safe travels whereever you go.
Unit 31
On May 22 twenty sunbirds met for happy hour at Black Angus. We had good drinks and food. And, as always, we all enjoyed meeting new neighbors and catching up with ones who’ve lived here longer.
The co-unit contacts are planning a July event. Stay tuned, Unit 31!
Unit 37
After a long hiatus, unit 37 is off and running with a fabulous breakfast at Eagle’s Nest. It was a terrific turn out, giving everyone a chance to meet old and new neighbors.
Unit 52

The premiere sailing event for Unit 52 on Lake Pleasant Friday, May 10, was a great success. Most all of the party goers came up to hostess Rhae Jean Magnuson, Social Chair, afterwards to say it was a really neat event for the unit.
There was food and drinks in the bar prior to boarding and more food, drinks and a live band in the restaurant/bar during the cruise. The music was good on the boat and a couple of Creekers each got up and did a song and played the guitar.
It looks like this will be a repeat event in 2020.
Unit 53
Sandy Stephens
Pat Cascio and Kathy Lawrence hosted a Mexican themed happy hour for the Unit 53 gals on Friday, May 24, in Pat’s lovely home. Pat and Kathy had laid out a spread of tacos and snacks on the dining room table, however, all the gals gathered around the kitchen island, which is so typical of our happy hour get-togethers, but then the Sangria was on the island and was a big hit with everyone. We are missing so many of our snowbirds and wish they hadn’t flown away for the summer.
Unit 53 happy hour

Joe and Mary Lou Avery hosted the Unit 53 May happy hour at their home Thursday, May 16. Joe grilled scrumptious brats and supplied the buns and condiments while others brought side dishes and desserts. The temperature was perfect for sitting outside, although a bit breezy, and there was ample seating for the 32 friends and neighbors who had a most enjoyable evening together.
Unit 53 pool party
Sandy Stephens
Sandy Stephens hosted a pool party for the gals in Unit 53 but we were missing the gals who are spending the summer traveling or are snowbirds. The weather, in the 90s, was still comfortable enough to sit around the pool or on the patio but half of the gals were in the inviting 87 degree pool. Sandy had made homemade chocolate chip and oatmeal raison cookies but the big hit were the macaroons drizzled in chocolate. Along with the cookies she had cheese, wine, champagne and lots of water to keep hydrated in the heat.

Unit 62a
Mike and LaVonne Christensen opened their home for the Unit 62A first Beer Tasting event! Seventeen “tasters” voted on 15 beers and another 15 non-beer drinking neighbors joined in the fun. We had trivia contests, beer company slogan contests and prizes for all the winners! The planning committee was Julie Greenbank, Janelle Watts and Barb Downey.

For the month of May, Unit 62A had 13 activities on the calendar, making this small but mighty unit one of the most active units in PebbleCreek! Between volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Bank, game night at the Downey and Shelton/Bowman homes, touring Taliesin West, happy hour at the Wrout’s, bowling, Hand and Foot, Mexican Train, Men’s Breakfast, Ladies Lunch, TV Dinner Game Night and a beer tasting event at the Christensen’s, how did we ever find time for golf, pickleball, swimming and all the other activities that PebbleCreek offers?
