Unit 3 Ladies Luncheon
Alice M. Hook
The residents of Unit 3 are gearing up for exciting and fun times. After many years of no unit gatherings, the ladies of Unit 3 met for the second time in two months. On May 23 a potluck luncheon was held at Linda Babcock’s beautiful home. Linda was an organized and clever hostess, offering prizes to those residing in PebbleCreek for both the longest and shortest periods of time.
In spending time with one another, we discovered that our unit of 60 homes has seen a turnover to many relatively new residents. Is it surprising we are all excited to get to know one another? The willingness to organize, volunteer and arrange parties is phenomenal. Unit 3 may just become the unit to beat for partying!
We have several upcoming events planned, with our next get-together including the men in our unit. We look forward to meeting all our neighbors and developing new friendships and memories.
Unit 20 Ladies do breakfast
Carolyn Rota
On June 7, 2018 the Ladies of Unit 20 decided to beat the heat and instead of a luncheon we did breakfast at Eagle’s Nest. Seven ladies very much enjoyed their breakfast and time to catch up with each other. The breakfast was hosted by Elaine Yielding. This was so much fun; thank you, Elaine, we hope to do it again soon.
Unit 52 enjoys brunch
Liz Gibson
In over 10 years of social events Unit 52 had never had a Sunday Brunch, so on June 3 we enjoyed a premiere brunch in a private room at Eagle’s Nest.
The food and service were terrific, and the venue allowed everyone to move around from table to table to chat.
The next events will be annual fall and holiday parties with details to follow. Also, there will be a summer ladies luncheon and possibly an evening event, too.
Unit 54 balancing on Wellbeats
Barbara Dunson
On May 23 in the new TF Fitness Studio, 13 summer residents got their BINGO-cards stamped after taking a 30-minute balance class through the Wellbeat kiosk. There was laughter and encouragement throughout the class from Karen O’Connor, Gloria Rathman, Linda Orlando, Pat Biacardi, Pat Gray, Kathy Vienna, Patty Klepinger, Cindy and Mike Hurst, Cindy and Mike Strong, Diane and Peter Chimicles, Barb Dunson and Julie Kemper. After our workout we all recognized how really important balance truly is. See you all next week.
Unit 58 Happy Hour
Dee and Chuck Ransom hosted the Unit 58 Happy Hour gathering on Friday, May 25. Friends and neighbors enjoyed shared appetizers and celebrated the beginning of summer in PebbleCreek. What a great way to bid adieu to friends and neighbors heading to cooler climates for the summer months!
Unit 62A May adventures
Barb Downey
May was another fabulous month of activity in Unit 62A! We started with a fun Cinco de Mayo celebration with our neighbors in Units 61 and 62B, where we challenged each other with unique themed table decorations, and enjoyed many shared libations and delicious food!
Next up was a Lake Pleasant outing with two pontoon boats and an afternoon of swimming, sunning, trolling around the lake and, of course, eating! Steve Gonzales and Bruce Banks captained the boats and did an excellent job for us!
The monthly Men’s Breakfast and Ladies Lunch had great turnouts, as did our monthly Happy Hour! This month our Happy Hour hosts were Marilyn and Charlie Newcomer who opened their home to our delicious potluck feast. We also celebrated Charlie Newcomer’s birthday and Lynn and Bruce Banks’ 34th Anniversary.
The ladies continue to play spirited games of Hand and Foot twice a month and now we decided to include the guys as we’ve started playing Mexican Train. We are definitely a fun, competitive group!
Along with many other fellow “Creekers” we participated in the first TV Dinner and had two tables of lively competition in the Majority Rules game. I think our two tables were more interested in beating each other and we were amazed at how often our answers matched exactly!
Seven diehard ladies stayed up all night at the Royal Wedding Party, hosted by Judy Meservey and had a blast watching the wedding live from England.
A new and fun outing for us was participating in a murder mystery dinner, where we enjoyed a delicious Italian buffet and audience participation in a murder mystery. It was a very comical vampire wedding murder and one of our residents was actually able to solve the mystery.
Now that summer temps have formally arrived, each month we pick a day to gather at one of the pools for an informal get-together for swimming and socializing. This month it was at the Oasis Pool and we had a large turnout to enjoy the beautiful water and great neighborhood friendships.
Closing out the month of May was a ball park themed, “Start of Summer” Bash! We reserved the Oasis Pool ramada and all brought ball park type food to share as we relaxed in the pool or played water volleyball.
This is what retirement is all about in PebbleCreek!
