Unit Happenings

Unit 5 summer lunch

Maggi Maas

On July 13, 17 residents from Unit 5 met at Eagle’s Nest restaurant for our Summer Sizzler lunch. We were all able to sit together at one table, which made for great conversation. Emma Mosely welcomed everyone and introduced the other members of the social committee, Maggi Maas and Joanne Benz, plus Pat McAllister and Jane Freeman, who were not present. She also introduced us to our new neighbors, David and Mary Benoit, who moved into Unit 5 in June.

We all ordered separately from the menu and everyone enjoyed their meal and had a good time.

The social committee is at work planning our Fall Fling. Details of this event will be sent out at a later date.

Unit 52 Ladies Luncheon

Liz Gibson

The ladies who lunch in Unit 52 enjoyed a fun time and fab food Wednesday, July 13 at Fiesta Americana.

Hosted by Rosie Richman, several new residents were welcomed to an afternoon out of the heat.

A casual summer evening party is in the works for the unit as well as the annual October and December festivities.

Red’s at the Wigwam was the spot for the Unit 52 Ladies who Lunch on Wednesday, August 10. Hosted by Ellie Kovach, it was a fun afternoon at a favorite venue for some of the 52ers who have not fled town.

In addition to our four yearly parties we always add a few extra. On September 11 we’ll be enjoying a wine tasting event at Total Wine, organized by Social Chair Leann Drummond, which is already filling up rapidly.

Unit 53 July luncheon

Sandy Stephens

JoAnne Braun and Joanne Burch hosted our Unit 53 luncheon for July at the Verrado Country Club Grill. The gals went there for our June luncheon and enjoyed the ambience, service and food so much we were happy to go back. Summer brings out the good and the bad about our monthly luncheons. The good being there are fewer of us that have stayed to brave the heat so we have an easier time conversing without shouting down a long table but the bad is that we miss our snowbird friends and travelers. The smiling faces in the picture are Joanne Burch, Pat Marinelli, Susan Donlan, Carol Sanders, Geri Zuvich, Brenda Rollogas, Susan Jackson, Carolyn Scott and Joann Braun with Sandy Stephens taking picture. Susan Jackson, from Unit 58, is a welcome addition to Unit 53; her sister Linda is a Unit 53 snowbird.

Fun in Unit 61

Kathy Gorchesky

Unit 61 was well represented at morning putters club on August 10. Nearly one third of the players were from Monte Vista Road. The putters then all went to breakfast together. This group has also established friendly neighbor rivalries (Giants beat the Cubs that day). 50 neighbors celebrated the end of summer with a lunch at Eagle’s Nest. Those in attendance enjoyed a trivia game and “What I did on my summer vacation” stories.

The newest activity within the Unit, besides Bunco, is Chinese Mah Jongg. It has been taught by Tina Wang. Weekly games are forming now. These neighbors continue to enjoy each other and the fun in PebbleCreek.
