Unit 20
Shawnee Robison
As the Unit 20 lovely ladies strolled into Bell Luna Ristorante on Wednesday, May 3 we were greeted by the hostess, Miss Jackie O. She was wearing a very warm smile as she escorted us to our special table for our monthly luncheon.
At each place setting we found the cutest little May-flowered, take-out style box loaded with some favorites; jellied-orange, grape and cherry slices and a variety of hard chocolate mint-filled candies! (Nothin’ says I love you like fresh, minty breath after garlic scampi than crème d’ menta!)
Thank you for your talents and thoughtfulness, Jackie Rice! (Our May hostess with the mostess!)
As the freshly made hot rolls were passed around the table, we chatted about who the June hostess would be and if we were going to meet now that it’s getting hotter! Since some of the gals are headed for their cooler, summer homes and the rest of us plan to stick it out here in the blazing, three digit summer heat, it was something to be considered! Some of us just wanted to do my all-time fave—watching Wheel of Fortune with Pat and Vanna in front of the fan, stretched out in a recliner! Aaahhhh, yes! The Golden years are here! Hope yours is everything you thought it would be, and more! Have a wonderful summer, everyone! Be seeing some of you around the clubhouse!

What a perfect day for our End of Season Party with PebbleCreek’s Sunrise Park the perfect setting. After a season of potluck events it was decided to have the party catered; great decision. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. At the end of the meal games were set up and everyone had their choice of what to play. We also had the opportunity to meet our newest residents, the Vandervorts. A big thank you to our host and hostess Jeff and Cindy Young for all their hard work in putting this event together.

On Thursday, April 22, 50 Villas neighbors met on the covered patio adjacent to the Flamingo Pond at Dillon’s KC BBQ Restaurant at the Wildlife Zoo in Litchfield Park. The theme of the get together was It’s the Villas Life for Us! We welcomed the newest residents of the Villas neighborhood, shared information gained at the annual HOA meeting held April 21, updated contact information, encouraged attendance of the New Homeowners Orientation on April 22 and identified interested individuals for Villas sponsored games nights such as Bunco, card and board games and get togethers. It was our last get together before the hot weather exodus and look forward to a fall Villa Block Party.
Unit 52
Liz Gibson
Almost 80 Unit 52 partygoers celebrated spring at their funfest Wednesday, April 20 at Sunrise Park. Hosted by Social Committee members Meg Chrisman, Connie Belina and Phyllis Kotyluk, it was a wonderful mix of new residents and those of us who have been around to see our unit built almost to completion.
A catered affair, the menu of pulled pork, chicken, tri-tip, au gratin potatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw, black bean salad, apple cobbler and double chocolate brownies was delicious and though we have a lot of wonderful cooks in the unit, it’s been a pleasure to attend parties and just be served.
If you thought a bean bag toss game wasn’t competitive, we found out otherwise! Pitting the men against the women was great fun and very challenging – and great fun for all.
Our next unit party will be in October but there will probably a few small events over the summer.

The ladies who lunch enjoyed a delightful afternoon on the patio at Toscana’s Wednesday, May 11. Hostess for the luncheon was Donna Goranson.
Unit 52 is planning some activities over the summer with our next major party in October with details to follow.
Unit 53

Duane and Virginia Warden hosted the Unit 53 April Happy Hour to a good turn-out of about 30 to 35 neighbors. Unit 53 neighbors are a close knit group that enjoy getting together monthly for food and lively conversation. Some of our snowbirds have already flown the coop with more to follow and will be missed until we see them back late fall.

Susan Abercrombie invited the Unit 53 gals for brunch May 2 at her stunning home in Unit 58. Susan spoiled over 20 of us with an elegant brunch. It was such a treat to be able to mingle among the tables in Susan’s great room and outside on her inviting patio rather than getting together at a restaurant at a long table where we only get to chat with the person to our left or right through most of lunch. Susan’s sister, Linda Larsen, lives in Unit 53 and it is a tie as to who is the most gregarious. The gals in Unit 53 are fortunate that Susan has joined our active and friendly group. She has hosted several Unit 53 Happy Hours along with get-togethers for the gals. Not all units are active or connected with their neighbors. All it takes is one person in a unit to take over the role of unit contact. If you and some of your neighbors think it would be fun, as we do in Unit 53, to get together monthly for happy hours and lunch with the gals and you do not have a unit contact and would like information on how to get started, contact Sandy Stephens at [email protected].

Rosemary Holland hosted our Unit 53 April luncheon at Ground Control in Litchfield Park. An even dozen ladies got together to enjoy a good lunch and great conversation. We are slowly losing some of our snowbirds for the summer but they will leave behind a hearty bunch that can handle the heat.
Unit 61
The men of Unit 61 enjoyed their monthly luncheon with fun, laughter and new faces. The men lunch together at noon on the last Friday of each month at Eagle’s Nest. New Unit 61 residents are welcomed.
A Cinco de Mayo party was enjoyed by many neighbors with free flowing margaritas at a resident’s home.
The growing neighborhood continues to see new smiling faces weekly. Unit 61 includes 166th, 167th, 168th, Monte Vista, Alvarado and Cypress. Many sold signs have been seen on the empty lots. Unit 61 neighbors look forward to future social somethings.
