Unit 44 Gathers for DOTD

Jean Harris

Unit 44 had a great turnout at the gorgeous home of Wayne and Donna Thomas on Friday, May 12, for a monthly Drinks on the Driveway (DOTD) party. Appetizers were plentiful, homemade desserts were delicious, and there was plenty of flowing conversation to keep everyone happy and relaxed. Donna was the most perfectly relaxed hostess with Wayne playing the comic! Arlys Olson treated the crowd to an operatic song with her beautiful, soaring voice and neighbors signed a get-well card for a dear neighbor battling a serious illness. Unit 44 Strong! And getting to know each other more with each gathering! We have a great Unit!

Unit 51 Ladies’ Luncheon

Janet Miazga

On May 11, 15 ladies of Unit 51 enjoyed their last monthly luncheon until the fall. They met at Papa Paul’s in Litchfield Park, where the gals enjoyed hearing about their neighbor friends’ plans for the summer. This month’s hostess, Irene Jensen, celebrated Mothers’ Day by giving everyone a red silk rose with a heart greeting as a souvenir. Hope all of Unit 51 is enjoying a lovely summer!

Unit 52 Oasis Pool Party

Rhae Jean Magnuson

Residents of Unit 52 enjoyed a picnic on June 8 at Oasis Pool. Attendees brought a side dish to share and their own item of choice to grill. One of our residents provided grilled halibut for all as an appetizer. Luckily it was not too hot that day, so a good time was had by all.

Unit 59 Potluck

It was worth the wait! Approximately one-third of Unit 59 homeowners have moved in and are carrying on the tradition of building community within PebbleCreek.

We weren’t sure which was more exciting—getting together with some of our new friends/neighbors or simply having furniture on the patio. Regardless, a handful of Unit 59’s new neighbors gathered for a potluck in May. The evening started with the help of name tags and we ate, laughed, shared lots of stories, and ended the evening knowing each other better.

Lori and Dennis Anders let everyone know that they’d be our unit contacts! We were all excited to know this was just the beginning of our community coming together. Michelle Antunes and Maria Datzer shared that they’d be our Kare Bear Coordinators and shared high-level information about the Kare Bear Organization and their role. Lori, Dennis, Michelle, and Maria are planning to go door to door to personally welcome everyone to the neighborhood.

‘Grateful’ was definitely a theme across numerous conversations of our first evening together and we’re all looking forward to our next Unit 59 potluck at the Oasis Pool on June 24 from 4 to  8 p.m. Homeless the Gnome, our mascot, will be there!

Our first gathering included Lynn and Paul Gresko, Laurie Malatesta, Claudia and Richie Bolander, Justine and Semih Kutlay, Michelle and Will Antunes, Lori and Dennis Anders, and Maria and Frank Datzer.

Unit 62A Candle Chemistry Outing

Toni Erickson

On May 9, the ladies of Unit 62A coupled their ladies’ lunch with Candle Chemistry located at Park West in Peoria. Candle Chemistry is a business that sells custom soy candles and body products. The fun part is you can opt to create your own custom product with candles, soaps, aromatic mists, bath salts, lotions, and hand sanitizers in a scent of your choosing, which our ladies experienced. The ladies invented different scents with different items at Candle Chemistry. This is a great event for any ladies group and we highly recommend this outing! While waiting for their creations to be cooled, the ladies enjoyed lunch at their favorite restaurant, the Sicilian Butcher.
