Unique safety tips for Alzheimer’s patients

Rayma Scalzo

We are so pleased to have Carolyn Bergersen, Director of Community Relations at Home Instead Senior Care, speak to our Alzheimer Caregiver Discussion Group on Saturday, July 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. After three years in corporate healthcare, Carolyn now spends her time educating community families on Alzheimer’s/Dementia. She strives to help families identify different stages of the disease and helps provide resources at every stage in order to plan ahead.

The topic of Carolyn’s presentation is Shining Light on the Unknown. She will share the realities of what to expect at home in the upcoming stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia and will address things you should know for keeping a loved one safe at home including unique and uncommon tips.

We have another group, The Saturday Group, that provides respite care for those having Alzheimer’s disease. It meets at a nearby location. This group allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group. It is run by a PebbleCreek volunteer who has experience with Alzheimer’s disease. She wants to make this time away as comfortable and stress free as possible. If your loved one is unable to participate in such a group, she may be able to arrange for someone to come to your house during the two hour meeting. Please RSVP by July 15 for this special group.

Our discussion group provides information, resources and comfort for those residents who are caring for loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease. It is open to all caregivers who are caring for a loved one in the home, at a local care facility or out of state. For more information and location of the meeting, please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send email to [email protected]. This is a meeting you won’t want to miss!
