Members of the PebbleCreek Ukulele Club enjoyed performing at the Glendale Folk Festival at the beginning of March. Their half-hour set included Hawaiian numbers and some from the folk genre. The appreciative, standing room only audience also joined in the more familiar numbers. It was great to see so many smiling faces out there!

Eleven members of the club made up the group. Irene Manalili performed a beautiful hula to the song “Beautiful Kauai,” and all eyes were on her. After the performance, some club members gave a workshop on Hawaiian strum with our resident Hawaiian ukulele professional, Manny Fernandez, giving amazing insight on both playing and Hawaiian culture. Thank you, Irene and Manny.

If you like to have fun and laugh a lot, join us at one of our weekly jams. We meet in the Palm Room at Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse from 1 to 2:45 p.m. on Thursdays. You don’t have to be able to play or own a ukulele. We can teach you and lend you an instrument until you decide if it is for you. In addition, if you don’t want to learn, then just come along and listen or sing. We play all kinds of music, lots of oldies and some that may be new to you.

You will never meet a miserable ukulele player!
