There were two members of the PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association who shared the 2015 Hole-In-One prize and coincidentally both were named Jerry. The prize money of $2,140 was split evenly between Jerry Treece and Jerry White.
When PCMGA members renew their membership, $5 is collected from each member who wishes to participate in the hole-in-one fund. The amount collected is then split between all members who score a hole-in-one during a PCMGA event held in that calendar year.
Jerry Treece was the first PCMGA member to score a hole-in-one in 2015. He accomplished this elusive fete on Thursday, April 2 on hole No. 8 on the Falls Course at Tuscany Falls. Jerry hit a really high 5-wood 178 yards to a middle pin on the left hand side of the green. The ball took one bounce and rolled a few feet into the hole. Jerry did not see the ball go in, but a resident walking on Clubhouse Drive did see it go in. This witness was so excited to see this hole-in-one (the first he had ever seen) that he ran over to meet Jerry on the green and tell him it was in the hole.
This was Jerry Treece’s fifth hole-in-one as he had two previous at PebbleCreek and two others at the Tecumseh course in Michigan. This was the second time he cashed in the PCMGA annual prize. Last time he shared with two other members, so this one was more profitable. He waited anxiously since April to see if he had to share the prize.
On Wednesday, December 9 Jerry White reached into Jerry Treece’s pocket and snatched half of the PCMGA prize with his hole-in-one on hole No. 4 at Eagle’s Nest. Jerry White did it during the second round of the four man scramble tourney. He hit a 7-iron 132 yards to a front pin tucked behind the front bunker. Jerry said he hit it pure and saw it land near the pin, but did not see it go in. On the tee, one of his teammates had bet him $100 that it was a hole-in-one. Fortunately, Jerry did not take the bet as he picked the ball out of the hole a very happy golfer.
For Jerry White it was his third hole-in-one. He had his first one at Grant Park in Milwaukee and his second one at Hasayampa in Prescott. He modestly said, “Luck played a great part in his holes-in-one.” That’s true, but you still have to get the ball near the hole before luck can do its thing.
Congratulations to both Jerrys!
