Mark your calendar for the July’s return of the “Tour de PebbleCreek”, the cycling challenge that takes participants on a virtual ride along the French countryside. Designed to coincide with the Tour de France (July 7-29), participants will cycle a proportional amount of the actual miles logged by the riders in France. “Riders in the Tour de PebbleCreek will cycle one mile for every ten required in the Tour de France” says Melissa Kallett, Director of Recreation and Tour Coordinator. Hence, while riders in the Tour de France will log a total of 2,066 miles, Tour de PebbleCreek participants will log 206 miles during that same period of time.
“This is our tenth-year hosting “the Tour”, notes Kallett. “We took last year off, replacing it with a virtual ride around Iceland, but cyclers missed our Tour, so we brought it back.” The Tour de PebbleCreek is broken into stages just like the Tour de France. Participants are expected to complete each stage of the race daily to stay in the Tour. Making up miles for lost time should be the exception not the rule…after all this is the Tour de PebbleCreek! And, just like to Tour de France, some days require more miles than others and there are rest days scheduled into the event. Details and a schedule of daily miles will be available at the fitness centers in mid-June.
Participants enter the Tour de PebbleCreek by initiating a Cycling Log sheet in the Tour de PebbleCreek binder located in the Tuscany Falls or Eagle’s Nest Fitness Center Weight Rooms. Participants log their mileage daily. Cyclists are on their honor. Remember, try to do all your miles daily. Special recognition will be awarded to all participants who complete the Tour de PebbleCreek. Good luck and enjoy! Viv Le Tour!
