Time to celebrate

Ten years ago this month, Arizona Chapter Q of the National TTT Society was officially chartered. During our 2017 Fashion Show and Luncheon to be held on March 11, 2017 we will be giving some highlights of those years.

Arizona Chapter Q is the second chapter within the PebbleCreek community organized by a resident from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where she’s been a member for more than 25 years. When noticing that a club that worked with young female students was absent from the number of organized clubs within our community, T.T.T. seemed to fill that void. Knowing the results of the summer camp program and the impact it has made on young girls’ lives, Arizona Chapter P was chartered in 2006. As that group grew in membership, another need presented itself as many working women were also interested. The result was that the second chapter, Arizona Q, was chartered the following year with evening meetings to include them.

T.T.T., pronounced Tri-T, has the mission of sending young and deserving girls who have completed the fourth grade to summer camp. Over the past five years, Heritage Elementary School has provided us with students who would benefit from this experience as determined by the fourth-grade teachers. Our membership selects eight campers for the summer camping program. Then the members complete the remaining steps to prepare items needed by the girls for their week of camp in Prescott, Arizona. Whispering Pines is an accredited camp and owned by the Girl Scout Council within Arizona.

Arizona Chapter Q has used many fundraisers to provide the monies for the camping program which provides our girls with clothing, equipment, transportation to camp and camping fees. To date, the most successful has been our annual fashion show and luncheon due to our partnership with Dillard’s of Arrowhead. Having the new spring line available for our models has filled the ballroom at Tuscany Falls for the past four years—with this year’s show being sold out as of the last week of January.

The benefit of membership is new friendships, fun experiences with our campers and many chances to become involved with an organization of 106 years that has been committed to changing a young girl’s horizon.
