This Is How to Celebrate a Birthday

Ellie Daly knows how to celebrate her birthday. First, she traveled with her good friend Doug Krause to Santa Rosa, Calif., to see Ellie’s all-time favorite musician Johnny Mathis in what turned out to be his second from the last live concert. It was amazing to hear this 89-year-old icon perform his world-famous songs with his voice as if he was still in his 30s. His finale followed the next week in New Jersey.

While in Santa Rosa they visited four different wineries and brought home six cases of some of Napa Valley’s finest estate wines. They walked through the Giant Redwood Forest with trees that are over a thousand years old, many up to 400 feet tall and 14 feet in diameter.

They flew home just to repack for their trip to Denver to see Andrea Bocelli, the world-renowned Italian tenor. Before the concert they were invited to a special VIP party sampling Andrea Bocelli Wines and an assortment of fabulous appetizers. With seats on the main floor, fourteen-row center, the show was spectacular with an unheard of four encores and a fifth waving to the 20,000 sold out concert guests.

While in Denver, Ellie and Doug visited Molly Brown’s home located a block from the Capitol Building. Most people only know her as a survivor of the Titanic, but she was very involved in the community using her wealth to improve others’ lives and the city of Denver. Her amazing home has been restored back to its original state by the local historical society.

Sadly, the party was over, however the best part, besides the memories of the spectacular concerts, there is still plenty of wine at home to continue celebrating.
