The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Teri Sellers

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

In the United States someone develops Alzheimer’s every 65 seconds. More than five million Americans are living with the disease.

This year, the PebbleCreek Alzheimer’s Support Group is supporting the Walk by having a team participate in the October 12 event and, more importantly, by raising funds.

Alzheimer’s Disease is an epidemic. Between 2000 and 2017, deaths from this disease have increased 145%, almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women, and Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S.

I have been facilitating the PebbleCreek Support Group for almost ten years. I have professionally worked with Alzheimer’s patients and their families for 25 years. And I have been personally affected with close family members with this diagnosis.

We will be participating in the West Valley Walk on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the Beardsley Recreation Center located at 12755 Beardsley Rd., Sun City West, AZ 85375. The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. and consists of a shorter one-mile Fun Walk and the traditional three-mile walk.
