The Red team won the 2022 tournament by 7 points!

The Reindeer and Elves broke out their best red and green holiday outfits to light up Tuscany Falls East and West courses for the PCLGA’s Red & Green Tournament on Dec. 6 and 7. The match play tournament is an annual fundraiser for the New Life Center and bragging rights for the winners.

At the end of day one, it was a close race with team totals showing the Red Reindeer Team leading at 312.5 points to the Green Elves Team at 299.5 points—a mere 13 point difference. On day two, the Green Elves impressively gained 6 points, but the Red Reindeer took off in their sleigh to finish with 615 points to the Elves at 609.

Following the tournament, players gathered in the Tuscany Ballroom for lunch, where all the Reindeer and Elves received a small tee prize in recognition of their hard work on and off the course. The PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) women opened their hearts and wallets again this year, raising an amazing $9,100 for the New Life Center.

Molly Pino, a representative of the New Life Center, shared numerous statistics regarding this domestic violence organization. NLC is one of the largest in the country with 104 beds and provides emergency shelter to children, men, and women to provide safety from domestic violence and human trafficking. Located in Goodyear, the shelter also provides sexual assault training to law enforcement officials in the west valley.

To entice the Elves and Reindeer, a Closest-to-the-Pin competition was held on both days. Winners on Tuesday were Barb Rossi (#5W), Kathi Curtis (#12W), and Barb Bates on 2 holes (#4E and 17E); and on Wednesday were Maxine Rivard (#5W), Diane Faulkner (#12W), Kathy Hubert-Wyss (#4E), and Lisa Reichert (#17E).

A special thank you to co-chairs, Carolyn Apodaca and Lyn Bronzetti, along with their awesome team of Kathy Hubert-Wyss, Mary Pinski, Deb Smedley, and the great golf and catering staff who added their special talents to make this another huge success.

Gifts to the New Life Center are eligible for tax credit for Arizona residents. If you file income taxes in Arizona, your gift will reduce your tax liability or increase your refund—up to $400 if you file as an individual and up to $800 if you file as a couple. The PCLGA encourages all PebbleCreek residents to consider making a donation to this worthy local cause at www.newlifecenter.org.
