The last two months of 2022 are chock-full of celebratory activities! It’s a time for the PebbleCreek Democratic Club members and friends to come together for social events and charitable giving.

The Nov. 2 club meeting will be at Eagle’s Nest Ballroom, where we will be honoring our members and visitors who have served in the military in recognition of Veterans Day. In addition, the Community Benefits Committee is collecting for Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank, Hope’s Closet, and the Phoenix Mission. In September, we contributed two large suitcases, two large bags of purses, six boxes of miscellaneous household goods, and 50 pounds of clothes to Hope’s Closet, and 266 pounds of clothes to the Phoenix Mission.

We continue to gather and deliver all kinds of clothing, bedding, towels, non-perishable foods, plastic bags, and disposable diapers to the appropriate charities, as well as prescription bottles that Agua Fria fills with shampoo for their shower users, and of course contributions made out to the charity of the donor’s choice. Over the past years, the club has contributed dozens of frozen turkeys to Agua Fria for the Thanksgiving holiday. However, we have recently learned that the organization can do more with the money contributed, so we are asking that members consider supporting that request. The same is true of the December holiday baskets that they distribute, so funds are very welcome.

Contributions will be accepted at the November and December meetings. In addition, there will be a collection of donated paperback books, DVDs, cards, puzzles, and games for the Maricopa Jail System at the November meeting as well. There will be a similar collection at the May 3, 2023, club meeting.

The annual collection for the Humane Society is scheduled for the Feb. 1 meeting, when the members will collect towels, throw rugs for dog beds, blankets they can cut for animal beds, new pet toys, collars, and leashes. And, as always, the charity really appreciates financial contributions.

On Nov. 10, the club will host an all-club brunch in lieu of the monthly Women’s Luncheon; details to follow. The final club meeting of the year is Dec. 7 at Tuscany Falls Ballroom. As usual, the social hour starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. We will have a full agenda, with speakers and preparation for the January Club Board and Officers election.

We end the year with our annual joyous Winter Wonderland dinner/dance on Dec. 15 at Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Tickets will be available at the Nov. 2 meeting, and members will receive all the details by email in advance of that meeting.

Sprinkled throughout those last two months are the monthly men’s breakfast, singles group events, weekly Saturday morning breakfasts, club book club meetings, and game nights. Information on events and meetings is available at the club website, PCDemClub.org and on our Facebook page. Our meetings are open to all.
